That will be a sweet rig! I've been wishing it was in the cards for me to get one of those actions. I really like the 3 lug actions.

My vector runs awesome with the 25sst. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the bolt angle when it's closed. If I try and carry it on the left shoulder the bolt sticks out far enough it digs into my side and works it open. I'd like to find a low pro style bolt knob but haven't had any luck with that quest and don't have any close friends with lathes... other than that its super smooth and the short throw is really nice. Been considering a shorter barreled slower twist 6sst to shoot lighter bullets on coyotes as a truck gun but just haven't decided to turn loose of the funds yet.

Been a while since I posted anything new on this thread. 300SS is still alive and kicking butt!!!! Decided to shoot some paper to see how it still groups. I'll let you be the judge of that.

Just under 3" with a 4 shot group at 889 yards. I think its still plenty acceptable.

Okay - after reading this thread I am VERY interested. I was going to build a 300WM or WSM but then I stumbled across this. I want to build a decently light magnum rifle and still be able to run my can (Saker). It is rated to 300WM so it should be fine with 300SS.

I am trying to determine if the magazine with that set up will work with the 300SS AOL or is there a magazine out there that fits that manners mag well and still cycle the 300SS without sacrificing performance due to mag length limitations. Normally I'd go to the gun parts store or speak with a smith but currently stuck in Italy for 2.5 more years until I retire from the Navy. This rifle will be my retirement "gift" .

I don't have any true wildcats but reload for all of my other calibers. Always wanted something not a lot of folks have and the performance on this short mag seems to be there (great work by the way).

Could use some advice on Mag/COAL compatibility when it comes to feeding. I haven't purchased and an action or barrel yet but was looking at lone peak TI or Big Horn with a proof Carbon Sendaro or light. Also looking for recommendations.

Since you haven't purchased an action yet, I would strongly consider the medium length action from Lone Peak or Defiance. That way, you will have no bullet or throating limitations at all. This would also allow you to run the new 300 Max case if you wanted to with an additional boost in performance. Same design as the SS only more of it!

The Max is a full length saum which was Shermanized vs the SS which was shortened to perform well in true short actions.
Brass available for both.
You could actually just run the SS reamer deeper and you would have a Max!

Will I have issues just running a true short action in that Manners MCS-CS? Would the Medium length action fit that stock? Bunch of new variables to consider.

That would be a question for Manners or maybe your gunsmith. I dont know?

With the 110 FB reamer, you could run the 215 Berger In the 2.99" DBM or a Bainey box no problem. Some other bullets would load even shorter.
