300 RUM setup

Yeah should put a brake on it I just don't want to because I don't hunt with earplugs in. But on the other hand I wouldn't develop a flinch. Typically though I left my chrono at home today. With Bergers load data they got about 2910 with 92 gr. I'm guessing I'm getting around 2800 with 90.5 gr. I'm loading up some more tonight and going to get a solid number tomorrow. As well as test at 200 out to 1000 hopefully if everything is jiving right. Thanks for your help

That's a really nice rifle! Looks like a real shooter.

On the whole muzzle brake topic, I'm the same as you that I don't hunt with earplugs in, and I finally got past it. I've got a 338rum build in work and it's definitely going to have a brake. I personally think the rum's are too big to shoot without a brake. Just won't pull the trigger without some kind of hearing protection. And the reality is hearing damage is gonna happen without hearing protection whether or not there's a brake on the gun.

Well I have some really good news today. I went out to the local range to shoot at steel plates at 300 yards with the chrono. I took 5 shots due to a solid thunderstorm that blew in, but in those 5 shots I turned the center of a 6" black steel plate pure silver. Every shot hit grouping in the center. My average velocity was 3045 (which really suprised me) with an sd of 7. All the numbers are much better than I expected along with the consistency. I also shot all 5 without a rest and was suprised that the recoil was quite manageable. Being 6'5" and 250 lbs in good shape definitely helps absorb some recoil. I'm used to shooting a 338 win mag anyhow and it doesn't seem to kick more. Thanks to everyone for your help. Without you guys and this website I'd still be shooting a 338 win mag at a max range of 300 yards. This is too much fun.
