300 RUM for long range rifle.

I had the same rifle, shot well, changed the trigger and it shot better. Have you changed the trigger? I have had horrible luck with remmy triggers.

They had a trigger recall on the serial numbers mine was grouped in and they put a new trigger in it late last summer. I haven't shot it much since I received it back. it may be the next thing to consider changing.

If you are interested in a Hs pss134 that's black with gray webbing let me know. The recoil lug has been bedded. Other than that it's in pretty good condition. PM me if you are interested.

you guys have me convinced to try the heavier bullets been looking at some Berger 200-210 I am going to get some and load them up
I shoot the 210s out of a 10 twist 30 barrel with 91 grains of H1000. @3190 FPS.

Bergers can be very Finnic on the setting depth. For hunting I started with .01 off the lands and worked backwards. Ended with a .255 jump for the accuracy I was happy with. A year later I have started going for 3/8" MOA. And I am .005 in to the lands. Using a sharpie and coating the bullet with the firing pin out is where I have landed.
Good luck and have fun

Hybrids and Elite Hunters are not nearly as seating depth sensitive as the VLDs. So the 215 & 230s tune much easier.

215 hybrids took virtually no tuning in my 300WM. Started at 74gr H1000 seated .01 off the lands and worked up in .5 gr increments watching for pressure. Hit an accuracy node at 77.0 to 77.6 gr. Settled on 77.6 when I shot a .480" group @100 yards yesterday.

I have a problem with getting this "off the lands thing figured out" because of the length of the magazine. I have worked with setting up the sweet spot off the lands a little bit, and I know that is an important part of the process. Thought of using the first bullet to manual feed and setting up sweet spot off or on the lands with that one. I probably don't need to spell this out for you guys. Now I remember the another reason I was sticking with the 168 bergers. The longer the bullet gets the more it will push back into the powder, because of the limitation in the magazine so this is a tradeoff for me. I have seen a kit out there that extends the magazine for the RUM. It may be another thing I will have to invest in to get the basics in place.
