300 RUM and Hammer Bullets

FWIW I have done well with the 181s with RL22 and RL23 in my 1-8 twist RUM. Probably better with RL25/26 or H1000, but not any on hand.

You will definitely want to "overspin" them vice under. 1-10 in a 300 WM was not so consistent.

I don't like having RL23 in there no way I would want H4350. Not enough case fill.

Is there not a concern with uneven burn? Literally half of the case would not full. I could almost see it with the lighter pills, but these are conventional weights (thirty years ago).

I think that was a concern in the 300 Norma awhile back...uneven/uniform pressures from round to round based on they way it was stored/carried.

Your thinking backwards on your powder, H4350 will make it a beast
So should I try the 4350 with the 180's on my 300 rum 10 twist? All I have is h1000 (limited), retumbo (ample amounts), plenty of h4350, and slower us869 (useless). Mind if I ask for a starting point? Wish I knew powder black magic a bit better. I'd ask where do I take the class, but I think I'm in the right place…

I got to thinking of this thread yesterday and am pondering if my 300AX could exceed 4000fps with the 124. Looking at a recoil calculator with rough figures on the 124gr i would shed ~6ftlbs of recoil or 20% over my 181gr load

I have a lot of n570. Im gonna buy some hammers for my 300RUM and 300PRC. The PRC is a 1:8 twist CA Traverse. What weight of hammer with n570 for PRC? Has anyone gone with a lighter projectile and n570 in RUM? Just a refresher from my original post the RUM is a 1:10 twist Browning Abolt.

I got to about 3400 FPS or so with 95gr N570 and the 181 Hammer Hunter.

3347 FPS with 97gr N570 and the 178gr Absolute Hammer. This one can go higher, but have not yet.
