300 Raptor-hottest .30 cal out there?

You could also neck up a 338 Excalibur to 375 which will put you in middle ground of the 375 AX and 375AM roughly. All honesty I haven't wanted much more than my 300AX offers plenty slinging 200gr accubonds at 3340. I think the barrel is speeding up now so I need to recheck my velocity but I could load it up hotter to 3400+ with out much fuss this is from a 26" barrel.

I have seen Bruce Baer in PA shoot his 350 Big Bear (408 necked down to 35 cal) with 350 CE bullets at 3200 at a 1k match. Shot 10 shot group of 8 inches at 1000.

Big case with lot of powder not designed for rapid BR fire.

Too many times guys get hung up on building a rifle off a hard to get case or that shoots only one bullet and then when the supply dries up they are up shxt creek. Live and learn though.

The 300 Werewolf is king of the 30 caliber beasts ...
145 gr h20 capacity , looking at 3500 fps with 230 gr Berger Hybrid bullets using RL 50, H50BMG and US869 ,

Dale Janzen @ Chinchaga Bullets is making me a custom 250 gr ULDRBT ST Hybrid bullet for this cartridge ! excellent 500 Jeffery Norma and Bertram brass available for necking down, including the Bertram made 500 AHR brass, plenty of brass availability although spendy $$$

building mine on a Sako M995 action set in a KRG Whiskey 3 Gen 4 chassis with a 32" 8 twist Rock Creek barrel in a custom Sendero contour (5" long straight shank at 1.250")

I am interested in the werewolf and vampire

I know some guys necking down 33XC to 30 cal. Barrel life is less than 400 rounds and they all say it isn't worth it.

Is the 300 Raptor built by Kirby Allen the absolute hottest .30 cal you can get? I read it can deliver 200 grain projectiles at almost 3600 Fps. That easily tops the 300 rum, 30-378, and the 300 Pegasus. I've done a bit of searching trying to find if there is a 30 cal out there that is hotter but I have not found it

Is there one out there?

I want a 300 raptor, which is the reason I ask
With no intentions of slighting Kirby Allens gun, i can tell you that with the proper build the 30x378 will produce 3500 fps with a 200 gr bullet because i did it for a very long time.
113 grains of H570, 36" barrel.
This was being done in the late 60s with guns built by the late Howard Wolfe on his own custom actions with necked down 378 Wetherby brass.
I didnt get one of his guns untill the mid 70s used, and then had him rebarrel it with a new 36" barrel.
And ill tell you something else, beyond about 1500 yards, a 338 Big Baer with a 300 gr bullet has already passed the 30x378 with the 200 gr.
Which is why mine became a 338 Big Baer.

Anyone have any brass floating around for the .300 Raptor?
Per his website @Fiftydriver is not chambering for the Raptor currently due to brass problems, and last I heard was that with RCC down/gone there's no source for 338 Excalibur brass at all anymore. He would know best though, hopefully he'll chime in and replace my hearsay with facts.

I have heard of a 375 raptor 308 nec ked to 375, for the ar10 platform
This confused me at first too, but that's a very different shell than the one talked about in this thread. The one you mention used to be called a .375 jaguar, then .375-08, now a .375 raptor. But it's just a blown out .308, not the insanity of the 300 raptor mentioned here

Kirby has updated since I said this, he is making them currently.
