300 PRC Berger 245 EOL load data

Here's a copy of what I posted in another thread.

"I have used the 7mm 180 eld m a lot and as much as I wanted to like it, I just couldn't. Super accurate but erratic performance. (I read about 180's blowing up mid flight so maybe a jacket issue? I never had that problem as far as I know)

This year I figured I would try out the 225 eld m. 2875 fps mv. Wife shot an oryx estimated 175-225 yards. Quartering towards her. About 1/3 of the way up. It walked off with blood in its mouth/nostrils. She put at least two more into the lungs and finally walked up an killed it. I would of done a better autopsy but it was hot out. So as soon as I had the first hind quarter off I started packing.

I killed a bull with the same rifle/bullet. The bull was slightly quartering away. Almost broadside. I caught the tricep muscle going in and the bullet was stuck on the offside hide. No bone. Impact velocity and energy were 1995 and 1985. The bullet only retained 142.6 grains. Imo that's not very good weight retention with the distance the bull was hit at. I would be really worried if I hit a shoulder under 500 yards.

I really would like to use them since they shoot and aren't very expensive. But after using the 180's on more than 10 animals and the 225's on the oryx and elk this year I'm done using eld m's for hunting."

Again only a sample of 2 with the 225. I've seen multiple posts of guys loving the ELD'm in different calibers. Cody did a good review on the 147 ELD with almost 20 animals one season.

Thanks you
I am waiting for a bergara hmr 300 prc and I like to read people's opinions.
I think that for the animals that we have in Spain it can be a good bullet, that it expands well over long distances.
I will also try hornady a-tip 230gr

Has anyone used IMR 7977 or 8133 in the 300 PRC? I also am awaiting a Bergara B14 HMR and am in the process of getting everything I need to reload for it. I can't find H1000 or Retumbo so was wanting to try something else.

I have H1000 and RL26 own it's way I'm wanting to use the 145 grain Berger OEL hunting bullet for my Christensen Arms 300 prc. What is the thoughts on this bullet and were would you start your powder load. I'm new to loading heavy Bullets like this.

What's a better powder RL26 or H1000 for the 245 grain Berger bullet for the 300PRC. I made a load up with the RL26 using 73 grains of powder but I'm showing pressure I have a average of 2819 with 5 shots. So I'm going to drop my powder to 72 grains and see what I have. Is the H1000 more pressure forgiving then the RL26.

I'd try RL33, N570, Retumbo, 8133

Thinking about trying this bullet in my fierce 300 prc with some N565. Does anyone have any load data for the bullet? Or have any idea of what kind of velocity I can expect with my 24" 1-8 twist. I know all rifles are different I'm just trying to see if it would be something I want to pursue. Thanks guys!
My math says the 215-230 is the better option. I'm building a 30 Sherman magnum and it would be a much better option for your PRC case than the straight 300 PRC. RL33/Retumbo IMO

I used the 225 eld this year in my PRC and wasn't that pleased performance wise on game. Thats why I am testing the 245 and I have the 215's here also if I can't get the 245 to shoot.

I didn't like the 180 eld either and some people love them? So maybe you will like the 225 performance?
I'm running the Nosler 210 ABLR at 3,052fps on H1000 in my 300 PRC 26" Proof they are hole in hole at 300 and busting 6" steel at 1k really like the performance

I did the math on my 300 win. I push a 215 Berger at 3000fps out of a 26 in barrel. I figured a 245 at between 2750-2800. The 215 is a better bullet ballisticly at these speeds. The 245is a great choice for a 300 Norma or something that can get them near 3000fps. The 215 is a great choice for a shorter barrel in a smaller cartridge. Maybe a 230 as well, but it's really hard to beat the 215 hybrid.
What powder are you using on the 300 win for that speed?

I just settled for some N568, been looking for h1000 and 570 forever. Anyone have any experience with the 568? hearing its similar velocities to h1000. I'll be loading 215 and 245 bergers in 300 prc and 215s in 300win.
