I have 215 & 230 Berger's also, but wanted a load for CA also. I think the 181's are just going to shoot in that .6 MOA range (I don't have the twist for the 199's). A may call that load good and see how the 215's shoot at some point. I definitely prefer the speed over BC since I don't shoot crazy far, but the .248 g7 on the 181 hammer definitely sucks lol.
I hear you haha, and .6 is still very good if it holds true at distance! I liked the design and performance of the hammer, but with switch canyon winds and blind wind hunting in the mountains I figured I needed some BC. I also have a lot of longer shot opportunities as well. Don't look past the cutting edge lazer to try also! Pretty sure the BC's are better than the hammers.
I've started buying multiple barrels at once, seems like by the time I get the first one set up it's time for a new one so this way I'll have 2...3...4... all lined up and ready to go.Maybe I'll get two years out of it
Well I made it a whole 24 hours without tinkering and I've already loaded up a test for the 225 ELD M's hahahaha. I'm just going straight to 91gr. of N570 and going to do a seating depth test to see if they'll shoot decent from the get go. I only have rifle deer hunts this year, no elk hunts (I've heard reports of the 225's being a bit explosive for elk). One in ID and one in Nebraska. So I might as well see if I get a decent lead load figured out lol.

Definitely dude. They kill super well within their limitations no doubt! Just such a low BC leaves you looking for more for true long range capability, especially when considering wind and not just drops.
I still shoot them, but not passed that midrange distance…500ish yards or thereabouts. My longer distance preference is all Berger.
I'd like to hear how the 225's shoot for you. My NMI is being built to hunt across a canyon and I want a high BC bullet that will expand well at 1K+ yards. I have 600 245 grain EOL's under the bench but the 225 ELDM's are the other bullet I've been thinking of.

My experience is the 300NMI just likes N570 the best. So, you may just have to accept it with the heavies. My conclusion anyway after going in several different directions. Don't force feed it, give it what it likes. Lol.
Just have a 2nd barrel sitting at the ready.
