Here is what I see as one of the main problems with say a 260 grain bullet. One of the biggest problems with long range is expansion which takes velocity. The heavier the bullet, the less velocity, so there is a point of diminishing return.......Rich

That is where the Allen Mags come into play.

Unless you are using your bullets. Expansion down to 1300 fps or so is fantastic and not matched by any bullets that I know of. The A-max gets close for those that realize it is a great LR bullet!

I have a 300 HULK and a 7 mm HULK. The case holds 100 grains of H1000. With a big bullet like the 260 I would guess you could load close to 80 grains. Tom has a new case that he has developed called the Thunder Hulk. I'm sure you could get 3100 fps out of the 260 grain bullet. We were shooting some 210 burgers close to 4000 fps and some 230s at 3400 ish. I'm just guessing on velocity because we were just shooting some test loads. From a 100 yard zero we were 5.5 moa to 600. Call Tom I'm sure he will have a better idea. Thunder Valley Precision » Specialized long range shooting facility.

- How the case is obtained? Using the 300NM fireformed or the 338NM case?
- The chamber reamer is available from Pacific Tool?

The 300 Hulk was developed by Tom Sarver. Tom used to shoot the 300 yogi developed by Dave Tooley which was a 338 Lapua necked down to 30 caliber with an improved shoulder. Tom noticed there was to much space left over in the case when he was shooting competive benchrest. So Tom built a wild cat called the 300 Hulk which is a 338 Lapua case shortened and necked down to 30 caliber with a special taper and shoulder angle. After Tom broke the world record with this cartridge Norma copied his case and changed the neck shoulder angle. Tom owns the rights to the cartridge you cannot go to PTG and order a reamer.

thanks for the reply, interesting for the origin of the NORMA 300. Does it mean that the 300 HULK can be obtained by fireforming the 300NM?
Concerning the reamer, of course it can be obtained only with the Tom approval, and for this reason I sent him some e-mail, without response so far.
