30-378 Weatherby and 138gr Hammer

Hey Everyone,
I've been shooting the 138gr. HHT with H1000. It shoots well but just trying to get it a little better. Does anyone have any help with any other powders or loads for the 138?
It's a 1/8 twist Lilja. Thanks!!!!

Isn't that the way it seems to go? Getting a load developed so it's good then decide it needs to be better.

Since I don't shoot the 138 HHT, I retro fixed your load and here's what I think:

- Switch to Retumbo powder. As much as I like H-1000, Retumbo can improve the performance of your loads.

- Switch to a heavier bullet. Yes I love high velocity performance but you can lose a little velocity and gain some downfield improvement. 168 or 182 HHT with those lovely turquoise tips...

Your twist rate is a tad too fast for the lighter 138 HHT bullet, which according to a calculator, only need about 1:11.8" twist. But if you're also shooting heavier/longer bullets in the same rifle and need that quicker twist, there's not much you can do.

Thanks for the help. Let me explain more.
I have nothing but a lot of .30 cal.rifles. I love them. I shoot 210's out of my win mag. 190's out of my short mag, 155's inn1 308 win. and 168's in another .308 win.
I know that 30-378 is more effective with a larger bullet and powders
But I have always wanted to shoot one like lightning. I've killed 5 whitetail white it so far, 2 with 1 shot (bullet went right through them) I just don't have or know any other combos for that bullet. Just something I want to do. 3830fps right now off of a garmin. 116.5 grains under max Thanks

I shoot the 154hht out of my 300 rum @ 3895 fps with RL26 99 grains

I would look at N560 and IMR 7828 SSC. I've had excellent results with lighter hammers in overbore cartridges like the 6.5-300 Wby and 7 STW.
