280AI with IMR 7828ssc

I sure wish they would produce more of 7828 along with IMR4831!
I was able to get a little of both from a friend last year.
I used IMR 7828 in my 280 Remington for 168 grain Berger the whole way down to Berger 140's and it worked but I didn't have a chronograph then.
I somewhat recently used IMR 4831 in my 280 AI and 154 grain Hornady's. I was a little surprised that I was getting over 3k fps although it does have a 26" barrel.

I get 2950 with the 168 VLDS out of a 280ai, 25" barrel and 7828.

7828 and 4831 have been somewhat available around here this year. Spotty, but I see it at dealers off and on this year.

We're pretty close on our velocities. I'm getting a tad over 2950 using 160 AB and IMR 7828. I was pushing them faster but the primer pockets in the Nosler brass wasn't liking it. lol
Edit to add this is a 26" barrel

My son graduated from college in NH. Right before Thanksgiving. We drove up there. In Pa I fount H4831sc powder. And Federal 210 match primers. Locally I fount IMR 4831 IMR 7828ssc and H4831sc. I bought all the IMR 7828ssc they had. I was planning on using the 7828ssc in my 280AI only. I may try it in my 300 wby also.

I loaded 140 Nosler BT's with IMR7828ssc and IMR4831 in one of my .280 AI's for whitetails this year. Both shot very good groups with 7828 producing 80 fps faster loads. 4831 was a little better accuracy wise but only had enough 4831 to load for the season. Excellent results. Have to give props to birddog68 for encouraging me to give the BT's another chance after I quit hunting with them in the 90's due to their grenade like characteristics. I have plenty of RL23 and 26 but would really like to get more IMR7828ssc and IMR4831.

I've been wanting to work up a load with the 120 ballistic tips but too many other projects going on right now. I have read that they work wonderfully on deer.
Of course I probably won't be using IMR 7828 for this but possibly some of the IMR 4350 that's collecting dust on my shelf.

I think you will like 7828 in the 280 AI. No experience with the 300 WBY
