280AI load development

I have shot rifles that we couldn't get them to group, and no matter what. Oh we got 1 1/2" @ 100yds, but, I don't call much of a group. Other rifles group great no matter what you put into it. Some of them right out of the box.

Stag,

I don't mean to hijack your post, wondering if you made any progress. I have the same rifle and it is my first to develop a load for. I loaded up the following for pressure test and shot through the chrono.

OAL 3.300
Nosler brass
BR-2 primer
160 accubond

H4350
48.0 gr - 2536 fps
49.0 - 2465
49.5 - 2526
50.1 - 2509
50.5 no reading
51.0 - 2597
51.6 - 2666
52.0 2693 Hodgdon max

H4831
55.0 no reading
56.0 - 2527
57.0 - 2631
57.5 - 2597
58.0 - 2600
58.5 - 2735
59.0 - 2707 Nosler max

I have seen no pressure signs yet. I would like to get velocity at least to 2800 fps. I think my next step is going to be to increase the 4831 load after deciding what increments. I am considering stepping down to the 150 accubond as I have some available locally.

The factory 160 accubonds averaged 2810 fps but had an es of 98.

I am getting (very accurate) 2925 fps with 160 Accubonds out of both my standard .280s. Mild recoil, no pressure signs. (IMR 7828).

I just started load development on a savage 110 LA build with a 24" IBI 1-7.5" twist. I'm loading the 154 AH deadblow with H100V. This is getting me 3125 FPS. Will shoot for groups this weekend.

Yes the H100V seems to be a good combo with the 154 AH. I also tried it in my 6.5 Sherman with the 123 AH. Wrong powder for that combination. Pressured out to soon. This was the first time using the H100V. So I really have no experience with it. Hope it works as I've got 5 lbs of it.
