Thanks to all!
Dude, that's screaming in a 280 AI!!! That's what I'm getting for the 175 ELDX in my 7 STW, and that's with 17 gr more powder!! I couldn't reach the next velocity without being over pressure.
I'm impressed
Shep, here is a very basic test over lab radar of 3 powders I tried. Hopefully my chicken scratches are legible. This was a very good thread I learned a bit more on this one myself. And no one was saying how thier 280ai is faster than a 7 mag either. That's refreshing.

I never made pressure on any of the 3. Was running out of powder space, compressing lightly on RE17 and RE23. The original Nosler factory ammo brass weighs more and holds a lot less water weight than the new Nosler brass in a box. The short story is I get to start over with new brass and Hammer 143's coming this week. That's amazing that rl23 is that fast. Like I said can't wait to try it in mine. What load did you first see any pressure?

You'll have more powder space being throated and not using copper (long for weight). I want to say you will get into 3050+ as a guess. I just couldn't find a pressure sign with the lighter Barnes and the boat tail being below the neck junction quite a bit at .050 off the lands taking up space....I'm a Hodgdon guy, but this RE23, I even run in my 7 mag and never desired it to hit pressure past its accuracy node at 2920, 175 ABLR . Good enough for hunting and no more brass growth in the pockets etc...I shoot berger 168 vld hunting from mine and I have mine throated longer than sammi. We been playing with the 165 game changer too and it's shooting them very accurately. We only have them just over 2900 right now but I think the rl23 might get us to 3000. Will be used on several deer this sat. coming up.
