28 Nosler 195 load data

Hello all, I have a 28 Nosler I shot the 180 vld last year wanted to try the 195 vld I was lucky enough to pick up some ADG brass and some 195 grain Berger and I have 4 pound of N570 I'd like to establish a load with it and get a turret cut. It's a 1:9 twist 26" barrel. Just curious if anyone runs a similar load? And what speed you're getting, I'd love to get 3000 fps out of it if possible. Thx
Try load date with a 7-300 WM. Its a 300 Win Mag Necked down to a 7 MM. it's pretty popular do to the availability of 300 WM brass. It will get you in the ball park. start low as usually.

Kelbly Atlas Tactical, Benchmark 26" 1:8 twist, McMillan carbon fiber stock. 195 Berger EOL, .030 jump, ADG brass, CCI 250 primers, 83.5gr N570 3165 fps, .250 MOA no pressure signs just starting to show slight case head expansion

I shoot a 28 Nosler with 195 using RL-33 I've gone through a few barrels 500 in my experience is about all the barrel life I have gotten. One barrel was roughly 300 I get about 3050 with a 25" barrel right now but I'm a ways back from max. I tried shooting the 180 eldm but after about 100 round they all don't make it to the target. The bullets come apart! not all of them but about 2 out of 10. It was frustrating at first because I didn't understand where my bullets were going!! LOL. In my opinion I would not cut a turret for a 28 Nosler because it going to be disposable
how is that a 'good' round if it burns expensive barrels? 500 and done? sounds like 264win mag. a few and done. i will pass.

For a hunting rifle, 500 rounds would take a long time for me to do.
But I have too many (subjective) hunting rifles now. I use dedicated "practice rifles" to shoot the hell out of. 308, 260 and 223. Doubtful I will ever shoot them out either.

Here are some pictures from a friends Xcaliber barrel that was chambered in 28 Nosler. The barrel spent most of its life using 75 grains of H1000 to sling a 195 Berger at 2900 fps. Accuracy at 100 yards degraded at around 300 rounds but still shot great at distance until about 850 rounds at which point it completely gave up. 4 to 5 foot groups at 1k yards and bullets blowing up were common. The barrel was pulled after a few additional range trips and cut in half to examine; final round count was around 1,000.

The throat is super rough and there is firecracking running down the barrel over 4" in front of the throat that you can see in the pictures.

i am not the one to start crap. BUT i been shooting barrel burners FOREVER. i cant afford it now.

that being said, my new chambering 270 BEE with the wrong powder(high flame temps) with 165/170 and shooting too long of strings, i can ruin my new barrel easily.

its just a fact of life, 'WHAT WORKS, WORKS" you know i considered 270 STW, but i know the performance will be short. heat checks in metal at 64,000 psi are impossible to avoid. so i have to run as fast as i can and keep it to heavy bullets and moderate speeds.

i have a buddy who owns THE GD KING....lazzaroni 7mm. it owns all of the rest by 500fps.....glad i dont have to replace his barrel.

500 is short barrel life, and long before 500 accuracy is gone.

later. sorry to once again disagree.

If you go into something knowing that the barrel is expendable, it's not a big deal. I don't intend on keeping my current 28 Nosler barrel too much longer and I knew that I'd have to change a barrel going in. I'm actually leaning more towards a 7 PRC for the next barrel because of magazine length restrictions and nothing else. Which means that I'll have to build a different 28 Nosler with 3.800" of mag length afterwards.
