Are you using .391 G7 bc for your on paper comparison for the 180? If you are, it is an incorrect/biased comparison, you will want to use .378 if you want a more realistic apples to apples comparison.....Berger averages their bc down to 1500 fps, and .378 is the averaged bc of the 180 eldm's listed bc's at 2512 fps (.391), 2232 fps (.376), and 1953 fps (.368). When you look at Berger, the 195 EOL velocity/G7 bc's are .385 above 3000, .385 from 3000-2500, .382 from 2500-2000, .389 from 2000-1500, and .398 below 1500. The average useable hunting velocity (above 1500 for reliable expansion) is .387, however the updated Applied Ballistic app gives a G7 bc of .380 on the bullet profile on the 195 for whatever reason.
Also, and I may be incorrect, but I doubt you will get 200 fps faster with a bullet that is only 15 grains lighter and I believe has a longer bearing surface. Even so, if you run with the bc's I listed for a more fair comparison, and compare the 195@3050 and 180 at a more attainable 3150 fps, the ELD-M comes out with a slight advantage in wind drift and drop out to 1500 yards, but in wind drift we're talking a difference of 0.1 MOA at 1000-1500 yards, and less than that in closer. The 195 has more energy, but not enough to be significant.
If it were me, I would shoot both the 195 and 180, see what velocity I can get them to, but ultimately go with whichever one is more accurate and consistent, because that will make more of a difference at range than the performance difference between the two, that's how close they are.
