I have a 34" barrel chambered in .276 Baer. It looks like a it is a little bit overbore, and I have been contemplating setting it back to a shortened version. If you were in the same position, what would you do? Flame on, give me your two cents...

I believe a 7mm/.416 Rigby, but I also am at somewhat of a loss...

Google .276 Pedersen, that will clear up the 7mm thing. My barrel is stamped .276 Baer, I assume after Les Baer.

I stumbled across the 7mm fatso (Thank you LRH forum!), what are people's thoughts on that round? Is it even worth the effort? I already have the barrel...

284 is the grooves
276 is the lands

It it is the barrel and not in the action, cast the chamber.

Then you can figure out candidate chamberings.

If it is in an action, can you remove the bolt and measure the opening for the cartridge base?

I believe all Baer cartridges are 416 Rigby based.
My own wildcats are 416 Rigby Improved, slightly different.
Your Baer is 7mm, so any 7mm .590" base will fit, Norma Mag, I don't know what a 7Fatso is?

Well if you referring to Bruce Baer, then your belief is wrong.
For example he uses the 340 WBY. case on both his .284 Baer and his .308 Baer.
He uses both the Rigby case and the 378 Wby. case on 338s.
depending upon customer choice of belted or beltless case choice.
He of coarse also offers the Big Baer case, which can be chambered in different bore diameters as well.
Obviously the O P isnt sure what he has or who the builder is.
Finding that out would be his first order of business.

The 276 Baer is based on the 416 rigby case, I had one, it spits the 7mm bullets out very quick, the only problem I had with it was you still have the wind on light bullets, of cours you can run a switch with the 30 416 or the 338 416 of course you have to change the barrel! But with the dies you just dont neck it all the way!

After lloking at my notes, I am the guy that sold you the bolt, fluted barrel with brake, 100 sized and turned brass, 100 new brass, dies with full instructions from Neil Jones, and the bullets I had left and that was 6 years ago?????????
