In the past, I have seen discussions about shooters having issues working up a load for a 270 wsm. I have owned a model 16 Savage in 270 WSM for about 5 years, and have had that same trouble working up a load. Don't get me wrong, in those 5 years, I've shot seven deer with that rifle, albeit most of them under 100 yd.
Well, I finally found the recipe. After trying H4831 and H4350, I bought 2 pounds of IMR 4350. I found a node at 58.5 grains with a velocity of 3000 fps. Sub .5 MOA. I may even take it out to Utah next year.

I just entered the short mag realm last year and hope to keep growing my collection! Congrats on finding a good load!

My biggest issue for the 270 WSM was Winchester brass, not a fan whatsoever. I now have necked down 300 WSM Norma brass loaded with H4831sc under the 145gr X bullet with similar groups at 2920fps suppressed from a 21" barrel.
