270 for elk what power scope

We (wife and I) used 2.5-8 Leupolds for years.....were never "overscoped" in the timber, and were easily good to 400+ yds. on antelope and larger game! memtb

If you're using a 2x scope to shoot 500 yards unless you're shooting them in an open field that is unethical as hell. There is no way in hell you would be able to see a good size limb over the vitals with that setup. Do all us hunters a favor and keep that s!@t to yourself.

Pretty sure the 2x was in reference to the low end of magnification only. As in, low mag for closer range shots around 50 yards. Willing to bet his top end magnification is closer to 10-15x for those 500 yard shots. This is purely based on reading his post and others before his that recommended lower magnification range for close in shots to the OP.
