270-300 Win Mag now feasible

The 270-300 barked again.

This buck was taken at 480 yards. I have a 100 yard zero, i was shooting at 7700 ft.

I only had to make a 4.8 minute adjustement with my Vortex Viper HST 6-24.

One shot, complete pass thru with the CUTTING EDGE MTH 140s.

The buck went 15 feet and dropped.

4 shots / 4 animals.

It may take me awhile to use a box of these Cutting Edge MTHs while hunting!!!!!

Nice deer...good shot...

Going on a Nelson Bighorn hunt this week. My rifle is the back up...so maybe another one...My friend is using his just passed dad's 243 as a Memorial hunt...anything long, he wants to use my rifle...G7 BR2 will call the shots...everything matches...and he is a much better natural shooter than myself...

He has never been a dial guy...but I believe, I have shown him the advantages...his dad's rifle has a fixed 4x Leupold...I have personally seen him hit targets (400 yrd hit on an antelope, him standing, with his rifle using a string of barbed wire as a rest, with a 4x leupold). He looks through my Bushnell 3.5-21x50 G2DMR scope and just smiles...

I'm in Hermisillo Mexico and I had another chance to test the 270–300 WinMag

At 503 yards with 5.25 minutes of angle correction on a 100 yard zero it dropped this 37 1/2 inch Sonoran Mule Deer. He died right where he stood I was using a cutting-edge 140 grain MTH at 3425 ft./s .

That makes this rifle six for six this season I don't think I could be any happier with this caliber/cartridge combination.

Wow- Good luck on that sheep hunt!

Sorry for his loss.

Nice Muley BJD...Has your 140 Cutting Edge always been flying over 3400fps?

We were able to get in within less than 75 yards...so my buddy got the opportunity to use his just passed father's 243 to shoot this ram, using his dad's reloads, with the first rifle that my buddy used to shoot his first deer...My rifle is still a big game virgin...

Pic of the Nelson Bighorn...

Very very nice,

What a great buck and what a cool cartridge! I have thought long and hard about doing something along those lines like a 270-300 win, 270 STW, 270 RUM, etc. What barrel length are you using? 3,400 + in a 140 grain sounds awesome! Love a speed demon rounds like that...I do anyway. And that combo of velocity with a solid bullet kills like lightning I bet.
