270-300 Win Mag now feasible

I have autopsy photos

The picture of the right side of the ribcage is the entrance wound after the shoulder had been removed. The bullet did not hit the shoulder bone. The picture of the inside of the left ribcage is an exit wound.

This was a Cutting Edge 140 gr at 3425 fps. All copper bullet
.

This should be the first photo

Thank you for the people that put up with my hijack of BJD's thread...

After 15 months of waiting, I finally got my Mausingfield long action...it is still a Benchmark barrel...still in 270 Wby...took several hours to grind in the stock...

Get to shoot it tomorrow..

Thanks BJD for the inspiration of a heavy 270...

Great pic- that rifle should be named ' Shadow Stalker"

This is a picture of mine- named after a famous sword owned by "Strong the Arm". A medival badass. The name is Blut Gang- it means Blood fetcher.

BJD…a quick question if you do not mind…

Were you ever able to get the 170 Bergers to touch your lands?

I too am trying to figure out the 170 Berger. I was doing some re-measurements and I could not get the Bergers to touch the lands with just the bullet only half way into the cartridge neck @3.62". 270 Wby...

With the 165 Matrix, I am able to touch the lands @ 3.48"

Sooo…I really do not know how far of a jump that the Berger 170s are doing…

TIA

3.65 was the lands and berger on my rifle.

Doesn't the Weatherby have freebore? Thats why you can load hotter without a pressure spike' but finding the lands may prove difficult.

I am sitting out on the Bergers for this season. The Cutting Edge 140s are flying great, as did the Matrix 165 and Nosler LRAB 150s. Im going to wait for someone else to solve the ridlle of the Bergers. I messaged Bob Beck, but he didnt respond. I think he wants to keep his voodoo his voodoo.

This year i am hunting Wyoming Elk and Colorado mule deer with the Cutting Edge 140s. 3425 fps and a 1/2" group should be better than i can shoot!

Yes, the Weatherbys have much freebore...how else am I getting 3625fps with the 140s with only "some" signs of pressure...:)

Midway is blowing out the 170 Bergers for $28 per hundred...I bought some...I may just to use them as foulers :)...Not really...

With my new rifle...I am not limited by mag length as I am with the Mark V...

Thanks for the info and good hunting...have fun...

I loaded some more 165's up while figuring out my bushing die.

Unfortunately, I was involved in an airplane wreck and probably won't shoot for a while. I had a burst fracture of my l1 vertebrae and it required surgery to stabilize it with titanium rods and fusing of the 5 vertebrae. My rifle weights more than my weight restriction.

Hopefully I will get to do some shooting later this summer.

Any plane wreck that you can "walk" away from is a "good" one...glad that you are "OK".

It beats the alternative...

You sir are a lucky man.

Godspeed on your recoveries!

"Midway is blowing out the 170 Bergers for $28 per hundred..."

That little tidbit of info just cost me $150.00 . Happy Father's day to me!
Thank you:D
