.264 Win. Mag vs 26 Nosler

Barrel life with be shorter with the 26 Nosler. There's no way around that.

If barrel life is a factor it's not the choice to make if you're going to do a lot of shooting with it.

If you're just going to sight in, work up a load, verify and check occasionally and hunt with it then it's a great choice.

I love the .264wm and have a great shooting 700 CDL SF but my next rifle is going to be a 26 Nosler built on a stainless Model 70 action with a 29" Stainless Fluted #3.5 Benchmark Barrel in a McMillan M-40 Stock.

Finally finished, my Custom build for LRH High Country - about to take to the range. Any Pet Loads or Development you can share would be greatly appreciated. Keen on R33, R26, R25, Retumbo, H1000 with 140 pills. Stoked... oh yes, great lightweight, low light Sig Sauer Whiskey 5, 5-25x50

Nice looking rig. If it shoots as good as it looks you're gonna have a whole lot of fun.

I was watching this thread and someone said if you can't find 264 WM brass just use 7 MAG brass. Please don't do this for it is the wrong brass case size. You may use 300 WM brass and neck it down. 300 WM and 264 WM are the same brass. 7 RM is not.

You are wrong. I do it all the time for my .264... Actually I have more necked down 7mag brass than I do .264 stamped brass.

walding1989 is correct, the 264 is nothing more than a 7 mag necked down to .264.
The 300WM is about .150 longer at the shoulder and the case is about .120 longer.

This!
The .338 WinMag is another of the 7mm RemMag and .264's siblings on the same case.
Necking down the .300 WinMag to 6.5 would be another way to have a cartridge design with more powder capacity though, like guys are doing to 7mm. Would give it a little bump in performance and maybe closer to 26 Nosler level, case capacity would be close.

I wont give up my 26....its a patriot.....nosler patriot....that being said...
Is there anyone here that has same rifle..26" barrel...shooting any of the 156 Berbers yet.....and anyone using RL26 in their 26 nosler yet....
Thx...
