260 rem vers 6.5 Creedmoor?

No history it's at a local gun shop on consignment.
They may give me the owners info??
But judging buy how bad the stock is beat up I don't think it was treated good.
And the blued action looks funny with a SS fluted barrel. .
I think I'll pass and get a new model 12 that can shoot store bought ammo and don't have to worry about finding a stock and if the barrel is shot out..
I could be all wet but that's what I'm thinking. I can order a mod12 LRP for 950$

I'm extremely happy with my 6.5 Creedmoor. It doesn't burn too much powder and the brass lasts a long time. .
IMO before you spring for the rifle get at least 10 lbs of powder sand at least 4,000 primers for it first.
With the Creed the powder of choice is H4350 for the heavy bullets and Rl17 is good also. For the up to 120 gr bullets Varget is great.

There's a lot of powders listed for that caliber I have several lbs that will work but I don't have H4350 I have aa4350.
I have alot of primers. And so on.
RL 17 is easy to get here but h4350 is like finding 22lr ammo.

So would you guys get the savage Model 12LPR
Or get the custom Remington 6.5/06 and restock it?
Only down side I see is if I get the6.5/06 it's all hand loads and if I go creed. I can buy factory ammo?
I personally hate Savage and refuse to own anything made by them. The only bolt-actions that I'll actively purchase are Remington 700's and custom actions designed off the 700 platform.

But I'm also quite a biased individual because I know what works for me, and has never let me down.

I have 2 rem 700 and am not impressed with them at all especially my new sendero.
Imo it was a waist or 1200$ guns out of. A box for half the money will shoot circles arownd it.
It seems like rem whent to crap the past 6 or years.
And evry Gun Shop I visited and ask questions say that the Remington guns are the most sent back to factory gun out of the box!
But that could be bs and just there opp.
All I know is my old ruger and tikka 300win will shoot way way better than my sendero and the sendero was twice the money.. so it is going down the road if I can't get it fixed!!gun)

I own a Savage LPR in 6.5 Creedmoor. I love it. Once the 6.5 Creed barrel is shot out, I can easily replace the barrel myself with a custom barrel of my choice. Also, the LRP action is the Savage target action with the bottom opened for a drop box magazine. It also has the target version of the AccuTrigger that is adjustable down to about 8 ounces. It is a VERY good action. I reload, but have shot the Hornady Creedmoor ammo and it is very good.

vino

I said the Savage shoots good but I didn't really quantify that. Actually it shoots really good. I have a target sitting here that a buddy shot (he has the identical rifle). I copied the target cause I want to copy the load and when you look at the target it will get you interested in the load. He put 5 shots into 0.375" inches at 200 yards. That is not just good, I'd call that extreme. The load was 40.9 grains Varget behind a 108 grain Lapua Scenar running 3,034 fps. I see no reason why the Creedmore wouldn't shoot as well. This is an out of the box Savage 260 Rem LRP with no mods.

If I were to go with a 6.5/06 it would get an Ackley Improved type chamber but with a 30° shoulder.
But. If I had a standard action 3.5" mag box I would put a 7.5-7.75" twist barrel on it so I could shoot the long CEB and GSC bullets out.of it from a Creedmoor chamber. For myself, the 6.5Creedmoor does everything that I want or need between. 224 and. 338.
I would rather shoot 10,000 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor than an equal number of rounds from several different carts in that middle ground.
However I'm not saying its a better round than the other 6.5 s. Just that it suits me perfectly.

I have a $2200 (MSRP) Weatherby Accumark that I bought new back in 2008, and has a bum barrel from the factory.... Trust me, I KNOW how you feel.

Funny they say that....When I sold guns, Savages were the most commonly sent-back rifles. They were complete piles of junk. And that is a fact from my own personal experience...Which is why I will not own one. I've shot alot of them, handled alot of them, and spent alot of time with them, and sent ALOT of them back to Savage....Therefore I formed my own opinion based on my personal experiences.

Not everyone has the same experiences.

I understand and didn't intend to make a rem vers savage debate or ruffle feathers.
It sucks that I've got 3800$ investment in a guy. That can only shoot 1.5" groups @100 yards and my old ruger that I payed 320$ for it with shoot 3/4" groups and it's had horses roll on it it's been ran over with four wheelers. Lol
And not one gun shop in the TV in idaho will tell me that a NEW rem is better that a savage.
And before they pulled all the 700 from the shelf the ones I've handled had issues that were visible off the wall lime bolts not closing ext.
It's all based off experiences and personal preference.
Now on the other hand my older rem 700sps 25/06 is a tack driver with any and all ammo! And that gun I'll never sell.
I'm not big in to custom guns or getting custom work done to make a gun shoot. I'd like to be but my budget dose not support that habit. So I'm happy with getting a gun out of a box and putting decent optics on it and shooting with my freinds and fam. And that's what it's all about.
I'll probably never shoot a animal out to 1000 yards but I'd sure like to practice until I can't say I can hit a target at that range.

The only Savage experience that I have to go on is my Edge in 223 Rem. All it does is shoot like a bench rest rifle. And I'm neither a very good shot nor a precision hand loader. . But if I'm doing my part real good that day it will shoot in the .2 s. It shoots so well that I wonder if something is wrong as I'm not that good. Especially with a 7 lb rifle on a plastic rest. .
I'm not a fan of rotating extractors, plunger ejectors or floating bolt heads for my serious hunting rifles. But if I could shoot long range target matches the first thing I would do is get a Savage in 6.5 Creedmoor.
