Have shot only one small doe—but shot many pigs and big hogs of varying sizes with my almost new 338-378 Weatherby Magnum using 225gr Bergers and 246gr Hammer Hunters. Both were loaded to start out at 3500 and 3400 fps. Death was instantaneous in all cases. Probably used 2500 ft pounds of energy on some of the larger hogs and 2500 ft pound on the rocks behind them. I still want a 257 Weatherby—for reasons unknown.Burger bullets are probably the easiest or one of the easiest bullets to reload and get great grouping. I use them in my 6.5 300 Weatherby and in my 257 Weatherby total devastation! We call them burger bombs. I don't use them no more the loss of meat from your game animal is atrocious!
I did not get as good of results as I wanted with H1000. Groups were just not as small. I went with 58 grains of N565. 21.25" barrel with the 135's is averaging 2990FPS.57.5 to 58.5 H1000
Funny. Just checked my notes. My pet load is 58grn of 565 in my 25SST with a 22" 7 twist barrel is at 2990fps as well. Same speed and poi as the 133s as well.I did not get as good of results as I wanted with H1000. Groups were just not as small.
