257 weatherby with 110 accubond at 3600 fps

I am trying to figure out the best powder to use in handloads for the 257 Weatherby Mag with the 115 gr VLD hunting. Are you handloading?? Appreciate any info you can give me. (Loaded 20 rnds yesterday with H1000 with 4 different powder charges.)

Always use hand loads. I'm mostly using IMR 7828 right now but have also used RL22 for years with quite good success.

I have loaded for 4 different Weatherby rifles. I learned different loads like different primers as well. I have used both LR and LRM from Remington 9 1/2 LR to Federal 215M to CCI 200 LR. Sometimes, changing the primer might be exactly what you need.

72-73g of R#22 with fed 215 with the 100's.

87g Speer Hot Core with R#19 at 4100+ flops deer.

How do the hot core do and do they exit

87's do not always exit, but they are laying in their tracks. We butcher our deer, and with the 87s, you can not distinguish the heart from the lungs, it is a blended mess. Amazing accuracy with the 87s.

I have a 10 twist 25 cal wildcat that beats weatherby by about 200fps and I couldn't keep partitions from falling like that on game. Only thing is they didn't always penetrate deep enough to kill the animal.
I switched to Barnes. This was back in the 90's so there wasn't a lot of good choices.

I have never seen 100g Partitions fail, I have seen two exits were the base seperated from the front, which I expect.
