It actually ran bout 50 yards deer have a strong will
I've killed quite a few deer with my 257 WBY and the two bucks that I shot using the 110 accubond ran further than any other deer that I shot with the big 25. I really wanted to like that bullet but I stopped using it because I've come to expect anything that I shoot with that rifle to be laying on the ground when I regain my sight picture after the shot. Killed quite a few with various cup and core 100 grain bullets and they always drop. The ones that I've shot with the 115 grain Berger have dropped as if hit by a thunder bolt!
Killed a few animals lately with the 101 Barnes and they are performing well but they don't have the BC of that 115 Berger.

I am trying to figure out the best powder to use in handloads for the 257 Weatherby Mag with the 115 gr VLD hunting. Are you handloading?? Appreciate any info you can give me. (Loaded 20 rnds yesterday with H1000 with 4 different powder charges.)

I tried several powder but h1000 and rl25 have served me well. But I got best accuracy max load . When I hit pressure but be very careful every gun is different

We shoot 110g Accubond and 115g Bergers in our short freebore 257 Weatherbys. Both have performed well. R#22 with federal 215s, 25" 9 Twist is 3590 fps with both of the above bullets, tiny groups abound.

Also, 100g Hornady flat base and 100g Partition perform extremely well at 3850 fps. 110g Accubonds are at the bottom of my list of the four bullets mentioned with typical shots being bang flops. The Pac Nor 10 twist, three groove loves the 100g Partitions with 1/2" groups being normal. Two X caliber 9 Twists just shoot every bullet we put in them very well. All barrels use a .030 freebore reamer. Pac Nor has a short freebore reamer, and their gunsmithing services are great.

With a muzzle break, you see the bullet impact on the animal, water vapor fly off, and the bullet impact behind the animal.
