It never ceases to make me chuckle, when I'm looking for one thing I stumble into another or even two somethings I wasn't looking for.
I found my first batch of 6.5 GAP 4S brass made from original Remington 7mm SAUM brass, necked turned and all. This was made at a difficult time since we used up all the 7mm SAUM available and had to convert .300 SAUM and do some significant neck turning to make the neck diameter fit the chamber. Then the .300 SAUM supply ran out and we were finally forced to wait for the Hornady factory to finish up the design of their production line and fit the runs into their schedule.
Right under that box was the first batch of Hornady factory 6.5 GAP 4S brass from the first run from that factory. We had ordered 15,000 pieces which went to fill all the backorders of which I got 200 pieces. Others waited for the next run which was 20,000 pieces and went to fill all the other orders with only a few pieces left.
I was actually looking for the factory brass I had converted from the 6.5 to .25 SAUM which I eventually found along with the 6.5 WSM brass and the .25 WSM brass.
I consider the .25 SAUM/6.5 SAUM (GAP 4S) to be two of the easiest cases to develop loads for especially with the heavy for caliber bullets.
Currently I'm working on a couple of projects for those long .25 caliber bullets:
.25 PRC
.25 GT
Both have made it through testing so I build a couple more, one each for hunting and one each for targets.
