.257 bee 90gr absolute

Think rl26 will be to slow. H4350 was a recommendation from nosler. And it worked great. But as we all do I can't help but think rl16 being the next fastest powder that I should have tried that. Juts couldn't find starting data.
I built a 25-284 last yr with a 1-8 twist and first test with h4350 hit pressure around 3700 fps then moved on too Rl19 and made it too 3876 fps with my average vel of 3860 with no excessive pressure but back down too 61.2 grs from62 grs at 3800 fps . I still had room in the case with h4350 so moved too a little slower powder too get more burn in the barrel with a standard LR primer too give the powder a more even burn instead of peaking the pressure too soon and gained another 176 fps . A faster powder isn't always the answer with hammer bullets when you still have case capacity . Note my H4350 load was not compressed but my RL19 load was .

Bullet would come apart almost like it hit something right before target.
Lots of damage shallow. They still dropped but no exit and very shallow penetration.
That's was mainly on pigs. Deer they more often than not worked great. But I was behind shoulder. Lots of bloodshot meat. I'll show e to see if I can find pictures.
I was worried you were going to tell me they were going so fast at close range, that they penciled thru. That theory comes up on the Forum now and again, and has never made any sense to me. Impacting explosions with shallower penetration makes complete sense.

That's the difference between real world experience with a Bullet over a larger amount of game, and some guy that shot one or two and lost them. Or a buddy did.
I feel that happens a lot when talking about bullets. Not saying taking. Advice from others is bad I have people that if they tell me a Berger is fantastic for a certain thing I would believe them because my own experience is limited.
Can't figure out how smashing a chunk of lead wrapped in copper at a high rate of speed would cause it to not deform.
Wonder if those same people think they could fall out of a plane as long as water is below because they can jump into water off a river bank.

Right. It's as if we've gotta launch'em slower for better terminal performance... would be too funny! Except that some argue it's true.

So did my pressure ladder with this combo today.
Got 4150fps with h 4350 out of my 26" barrel . Could go higher but think I'll live with that and load a group see what happens.
It's a rocket that's for sure. I bet I could get another 100fps out of what I was seeing.
Thats unbelievable!! I wonder what the barrel life is...?

Not for me , believe it ,that's the glory of all the Hammer absolute bullets ,if loaded right you can expect a 250 fps too 300 fps gain over a conventional bullet of the same weight . That is my experience no exaggeration.

I'll post load tonight.
I'm using h4350 but wondering if rl16 which is the next one faster maybe be better.
Although I've been spending so much time loading all ready I don't need to chase another 100fps with this one.

I'm loading 26 with 90g absolute hammer. I'm getting mid 3800 no pressure. Had pressure sign with 4451@ around 3700. Going to try 7828 next batch. 26" weatherby. @ mid 3800s I have not had an issue. Blows completely through 200lb hog and 150lb deer. @ 150+ yards.
