In 35 years I've found that bloody near any bullet from bloody near any rifle is likely to work as long as you don't put it in the ham and then it's still a pretty good bet to whack the femoral artery and find a dead buck just down the path. I've seen a decent blacktail buck ham-shot with a .22lr (don't ask, long story, wasn't me) and it die 5 minutes later in a puddle of blood with a trail of blood leading up to it that looked like it was poured from a jerry can. Special powers in the quarter bore that's not there in others? Nah.In my 49 years of deer killing experience I have discovered that most any .257 cal. is a deer killer with most any bullet 100 to 120 grs.
