25 WSSM Purchase Help

It's not that I think a M70 shadow isn't worth $500, it's probably about right. But I wouldn't pay that for a shadow that requires I order one of two different factory loads or wait 2 years for the next run on brass and uses harder to find stocks and bottom metal.

Would I own a wssm? Absolutely, but only if the price is right Bob...

I'd rather have the A-Bolt II WSSM instead of the M70, but that's because of the time-frame when those M70's were being built was when Freedom Group was trying to ruin Winchester, so the quality was "iffy" back then. Just like they've done to Remington, Dakota, Bushmaster, and every other gun company they buy.

I picked up a Winchester M70 Cougar in 25WSSM about two years ago. I was able to get 300 rounds of factory ammo. Rifle shoots under 1MOA. Be aware that the WSSM's are barrel burners and there are issues reloading them. The thicker brass tends to spring back a fair amount. I've ended up grinding off some of the shell holder to deal with that.

I bought new brass from Bertram Brass in January. $155 for 100. Expensive yes, but that will last me a lifetime for that rifle. Otherwise it's just a safe queen. Too good of a shooter to sit unused.

So sorry I went silent guys, I had a family issue to tend to But I have read through all the posts and appreciate all of your responses help.

With all due respect... I don't think so. It's too bad we as consumers don't have any recourse against fraudulent statements.:(

Enjoy your purchase!
