25-06 for US deer?

The two bit ought six is a dandy. Maybe not for long range as defined here, but back when 450 was a good poke, it was awesome. For animals up to 400 pounds and ranges under 500 yards it is about perfect. With just regular bullets like the 90 grain sierra HPBT GK, 100 grain Partition, 110 grain Accubond, 115 grain B-Tip, and the like it is a perfect blend of speed, shootability, and penetration.
I have always used hard bullets in my 25-06's. The Nosler 110g Accubond is about perfect, but mine love the Nosler 115g Partitions and the deer I have shot do not like them very much. LOL.
I found the 115g Partition out penetrates the 120g Partition. I still have several boxes of these and will use them in my newly acquired 257 Bee. I think they will handle the velocity just fine, otherwise I will use the 110g Accubond.

Cheers.

Both of these AZ desert muleys were taken with the 25-06. One was the 110 AB @ 150yds, the other the 115 Berger @ 465yds. Both deer dropped like a ton of bricks. Both were big bodied deer.
