22 in 300 prc?

Any testing on this new rifle?

Fun fact the rifle just got back to me from the smith It looks beautiful however, I haven't been able to hit the range with it yet. Looking to do the break in on Monday perhaps and see how it shoots. I had it built with the intentions of shooting either the 200 gr terminal ascent, the 190 Winchester expedition big games and the 190 federal GMM hopefully she likes them.

I never understood this, especially if you have the means to load. Build a full custom rifle and shoot factory ammo...makes no sense. IMO save the money and just buy a seekins or something. It's kind of counter productive to ask about performance when you're neutering yourself by shooting factory ammo. If you want to shoot boxed ammo you're at the liberty of whatever each box shoots. Kinda kills the thread as soon as you decide factory ammo is the choice. At that point who really knows what or how your rifle is going to shoot for performance...🤷‍♂️

This is true however, reloading down the road is still an option……

I'm sure it will shoot decent either way. Food for thought is performance in different conditions with factory ammo. I've seen PRCs shoot very well with factory ammo. Then I've seen them absolutely fall apart on the mountain. It's not very pretty when it does. Luckily animals weren't wounded that time but personally id be fine if i never see it happen again. Good luck with your new toy. Let's see some pics!

Yea I just hope it shoots well. I had Brian over at pucker factor precision build it out of Wyoming and it looks great just need to shoot her. I'll upload some better photos of it on the range. For now here she is with my dog pepper. She gave the stamp of approval thus far.

Those 215s are hammers from what I see online should be great. What barreled action did you end up with?

Kelbly Nanook with a 1:8.5 twist 22" carbon from Preferred Barrel Blanks. Going to my FFL to pick it up later today.

I've had a 22-250 AI barrel from them that shot really well, so figured I'd give them a try again. Will add a triggertech special and most likely try a McMillan Mountain Tracker LR. I really like the Manners LRH (have 3 of them), but I want to try something different this time.

Oh that'll be sick. Can't wait to see the final product. Trying new things is always hard for me when it comes to guns the lrh I have is my first and I don't think I'll ever buy another stock, but everyone and their mother knows McMillan is right there with manners in terms of quality and fit/ finish

I have a suppressed 26" 300PRC running 215s. I have a few other "elk rifles", this is one of my bombers I built for canyon shooting.

H1000 @ 3021fps
N570 @ 3053fps

Take 100-150fps off for a 22", and that should be around 2870-2900. PLENTY for elk.
I have swapped to a 230 Hyb @ 2995 w. N570. It is a Cruise Missle. Hits with authority out to 1400 (as far as I have shot it to date).

How does one differentiate between a cartridge falling apart and a shooter falling apart?

Well thats a very good question. The only real argument is that now he has exactly 80.2 grains of h1000 in every single load and the seating depth of his 215 hybrid is exactly .062 off the lands in the highest quality brass he can buy. Put it this way, after that the "falling apart" has never happened again. So I suppose one could call it an assumption that custom loaded ammo for your rifle is far more accurate and reliable, and stable, and consistent than anything you can buy off the shelf that's built for money not accuracy....we tried it one way and it was a disastrous flop, we tried it the way it takes every possible human error we can out of the equation and its been a dashing success ever since. But I guess it is possible for his shooting to just go absolutely bananas the one time we tried factory ammo and then never again after we dialed in a reliable, repeatable and consistent custom load specifically for his rifle. 🤷‍♂️
