My uncles Model 70

What an awesome story. I have my Dads Fabrique Nationale presentation grade 270 that he bought in a police auction in Houston probably 40+ years ago. We hunted Texas WT and Trans Pecos mule deer together for those 40+ years and he killed many many deer with it. I have it now, he passed in 2002, and it is still exactly the way he last handled it. It will still be that way when I leave here also. Some things are just treasures.

One element of the story of my Dads rifle is that I was there with him at the auction, tables and tables of fire arms. He saw this rifle laying on the table and he said I saw a rifle just like this in Austria when I was stationed over there during WW II. He bought it for $300 which was a fairly high price for a rifle in the late '70s era.

Awesome. You're right stuff is just stuff but it is nice to pass along family heirlooms. And to remember them.
My older brother passed away from cancer at the age of 20 when I was 18.
He bought a marlin 782 in 22 mag my ex stole it and her retarded son broke his fishing pole that was a Christmas gift that he used in Idaho when I was 5 or so. I'd sell every one of my firearms and fishing equipment to have those 2 items back.
I've also had a cousin take everything of my grandmother when she passed with out ever asking me or my other brother if we would like some of the family photos. Especially from WW2 in Cologne Germany of my father and such.
That was pretty ROTTEN of them!

I bought some prvi soft point for the brass and shot it to sight. I was considering Sierra 130 TMK for it, I have tons of powders to try
for my very seldom used sierra 130sbt's i used imr4350 and imr4320 for the 85 and 100's.

depending on needs and hunting temps there are better temp stables out there. i have some untried ppu brass for 7-08.

i've shot over 2,500 rounds thru that '61 model and was thinking about having win rebarrel it. called then and i was told, "if it does't hold 1.25 or 1.5moa we won't rebarrel it"? well, so much for that as it still shoots under 1 on a bad day. i haven't been able to stabilize the 140smk's due to length of bullet w/9twist at my elevation (2,400-2,500'). i did get a 264wm barrel with a 7.5 (mcgowen) to handle all cup-n-cores
