22 Dasher

Anyone running one? Do's? Donts?
I have a barrel coming. It's not chambered so I can still opt into something else. Seemed like a fun little case. Intend on running 88eldms.

I've been shooting a 22BR for years. Currently have an 8 twist bartlein barrel and shoot 80 SMK's. It's remarkably accurate. The extra fps achieved with a 22 dasher and a 7 twist barrel seems like a winner with any 80+ grain bullet. The 88 eldm's need a faster twist than what I've got to stabilize the bullet.

Do you plan to neck down 6 Dasher brass or form 6 BR brass? I buy 6 Dasher brass for my Dasher, but neck down 6BR Lapua brass for the 22br. Bruno's shooters supply is the only place I've found that carries Norma 6 Dasher brass. I believe Norma's the only manufacturer making 6 Dasher brass. I like the Lapua brass better - just a personal preference.

Not too sure about making a 22/Dasher.....but you can get fire formed 6mm Dasher very inexpensively at Bruno's for only $89/100 pcs. If I didn't already make a 6mm BR I would be building a 6mm dasher.

When bullets.com was still in business, Grizzly Industrial's owner had Norma make this brass. The brass is built with very high standards.

Cant remember exactly but I think I remember guys have trouble using the 6 Dasher norma brass in the Dashers that were chambered for Lapua brass, seems there were some dimensional differences and guys started specing reamers just for the norma brass. A search on accurateshooter will probably find what was the problem.

Anyone know an approximate speed that should be seen out of this?

I believe the Norma has a longer neck. I'm in the process of putting together a 6 Dasher hunting gun right now. I specified to my Smith to chamber for the Norma brass. Should be a nice deer gun for out to 500 yds or so and only use 30+ gr of powder.

Probably around 33-3400 with 80s
I love mine 26" 6.5t long freebore for 95s
Shoots inside everything to 1000 with very minimal recoil at 3090fps

A 22br will get you in the same node as a 22 dasher, making the case capacity gains pointless
I was told this by a guy who has both.

At least 100fps faster with 95s
Up to you if that's worth it. I like the larger case as it allows slower powder to be used.
