Honestly around here if I get a shot on a coyote around here it will be 400 and under. I've never had a 22cal rifle so I want it to be a good experience. I use to shoot dogs with a 300wm , obviously we weren't keeping the hides. It was cheap to reload before so could shoot a lot cheap. Now not so much and 22 cal components are the best bang for the buck.

Varmint Hunter, I have helped several people with this issue, it is no joke. A good reamer runs around $250+, so the gunsmiths have to maximize the tooling they have on hand. When you start running some pressures, that is when you see that the Lapua becomes difficult to impossible to use in a SAAMI chamber. You need .003 at a minimum of clearance, over the new brass dimension to avoid extraction issues.

Don't build anything until you have at least 250 high quality cases in your hand. It wouldn't hurt to send a dummy cartridge, with your intended bullet, to your smith before the chambering is done.

I have a stash of 22-250 brass but I see 6XC brass in stock and it's Peterson brass. Most of the load data I've seen for the 22 CM the powder charges are in the 39-44 grain range. The 22-250 AI according to Nosler puts you in the 36 gr max. And of course the standard 22-250 will be generally lower. I don't save the pelts either so I'm going to try the 75gr ELDM in my AR15 this season. In a 22-250 fast twist on 22CM I'd use either the 75 gr ELDM or 88 gr ELDM.

Just my opinion but for 400 yards and under even a bolt action .223 rem loaded with a 75 gr ELDM should work pretty well if you have a MV of 2900 fps. But a fast twist 22-250 AI or 22 CM would be mo better lol. Happy hunting buddy!
I was thinking a 223 but my action is a 308 bolt head and it has been fixed up by Fred at SSS, its nice the way it is ,so I figured I better not monkey with it that way.

Yup I'm in the same boat. So really you can go with which option/ cartridges you listed. Given your range you could even download, or find the lower accuracy node on a 22 CM and run with it.

Hmm then if your brass is still in good shape you could resize it to standard 22-250 and run it. Up to you buddy.

Go with the 77 grain Sierra TMK, I'm shooting them out of a 22-250 and they are expanding well and accurate.
OP, 22 XC, Urbanrifleman is selling some pre fits over on accurateshooter.com with some fantastic results. You could possibly use the same brass and dies.
Once you settle in on a case you really like, I would urge you to order a reamer, do not leave it at the gunsmiths as they do get dull with age and cut smaller than new dimensions.

You WILL Love, the 6 XC for, small Varmints ( 75 to 80 gr. Bullets ) to LR Coyotes ( or Deer / Antelope ) using,.. 87 gr HVLD's , 95 gr. Classic Hunters ( 9 Twist ) or 108 gr. Elite Hunters ( 1-7.5 Twist or, 1-8 tw. ). But, watch, your Barrel,.. SIZE !
I'm using / trying, the 103 gr. ELD-X's currently, in my 1-7.5 twist, 6 XC. ( the 95 gr. Classic hunters, ARE "Devastating" on, Sage Rats / Yotes ).
It's a 10 Pound, Braked, Criterion Med Heavy "Sporter" 24 inch barrel with, a .705 dia. Muzzle ( and it's,... Plenty ! )
It's Plenty "Stiff" enough, to shoot "BugHoles" in, the 2's and 3's with, Norma Brass, StaBall 65 or, VV N-160 and using, FORSTER Dies !
Criterion's "RemAge" Barrel with, a .104 Free Bore, is Perfect for,.. 80 to 108 grain Bullets.
Keep in Mind that, the "Bigger" 95 to 108 grain, 6 mm Bullets, will "Buck" the Wind for those,.. LR shots !
Nothing wrong with the .22 Creed tho,.. Except "Barrel LIFE", kinda,. Suxx
