22-250

I've been shooting 3031 in my 22-250's for many years with 52 and 53 grain Sierras. Shoots great and easy to find.

Back in the 80s and early 90s we slaughtered the Rock Chucks in Idaho. in Some fields, the first 50 yards had been eaten down to stubble. Then we discovered that just south of Idaho the Jack Rabbit population was at a point to where alfalfa farmers were getting ruined financially, and we hammered the rabbits.

Win 760 proved to be easier on throats than 4064, 4895, or IMR 3031 for high volume shooting. Then we discovered AA2700 which was the easiest of all on throats with 50-60g bullets. I checked the Heat Index Chart, and AA2700 is one of the coolest burning powders made, and we now shoot it in our 243 AIs with 70g at 3850, throat life is amazing.

Food for thought.

22/250 Brass has been scarce. Raven Rock, a board sponsor on this site has Norma 22/250 brass in stock at a very reasonable price.

How was the accurracy with the AA2700? Im not sure if I have any available in my area but do have 8lbs of 760. Might have to try it, good info.

Varget is popular for a reason, H380 is the easy button.

But quite honestly, there are several that work well in this range. I can't remember off the top of my head which was the best but I know I've used a lot of 4064 out of mine, and Benchmark right with it depending on bullet choice.
