2024 Meat Pole

I didn't take this bear but wanted to show what we have here in PA. The Clarion Co. bear was taken 5 mins. from my house. These weights are just from our just concluded 4 day rifle season. This does not include muzzleloader or the archery bear season. Before I retired as a PA Game Commission officer, I personally trapped and handled bear over 800 pounds live weight.
That's bull elk weights there which is amazing! A fellow E. Oregonian Steve West has hunting show called Steve's Outdoor Adventures and some folks in North Carolina said he should come out and hunt the biggest black bears in America. Well he did and he shot a bear that weighed over 600lbs dressed. Out west here if we get a black bear over 400lbs it's considered a monster.

If i remember correctly, North Carolina and Pennsylvania are supposed to have the biggest Black bears in the country. I've spoke to taxidermist in the area and they use a lot of special or grizzly forms every year for some of these bear. There is a bear in the lobby of the PGC headquarters that was poached or taken illegally in some way, If my memory is correct, it was estimated at 900# live weight. I'm gonna check on that, but that's what's stuck in my head. I know it's the biggest bear I've ever seen in PA! There is also a 600# in the lobby. Update: The bear in the lobby was 875#.

Congrats and so I guess the "Is the 22 creed big enough for buck deer" debate is over. ha ha
Entrance behind shoulder. Took out rib going in

Took out a rib on its way out and went through shoulder blade and bullet was up against the hide. Not bad for 417 yards. Buck made a 20 yard death circle

I might have to try my .22 Creed on deer one of these years. Mine loves the 70 grain Accubond at around +3500 FPS, which should be quite effective.
