Re: Gauging interest in a wyoming long range antelope group hunt

.
For me, as lont as there is a spot to park my camper & have a fire, I'm not sure it could get any better.

This is where I am at. As long as I could do it before and be home by Oct 20th it would be fun. A place to camp, off the flats to get away from possible winds is all we need for fun. If we find no goats we can shoot killer rocks from camp. :)

I think it would be a ton of fun, especially amongst those of us who have gotten to know eachother here without actually meeting in person. I live in eastern Wyo, i'd probably think the world was coming to an end if the wind wasn't blowing :D

Killer rocks eh? Gotta watch out for them sneaky buggers but, I think we will be more than capable of repelling boarders.

Mike,
I would be interested also, I have a couple of points but would rather not burn them on doe tags. I could also have a blast shooting rocks!

With the exception of my first goat and a couple with a bow, all I ever shot were does! You can eat them, so I would be interested! I can stay in town or pull my camper.

Let's keep this thread close to the top. I feel this is an excellent opportunity to bring our members together. There's a lot of gents here I've spoken with for eons & have never actually met face to face.

Re: Gauging interest in a wyoming long range antelope group hunt

The Bitter sweet reality here is that there arent as many tags as there used to be, great for the herd but not so great for these group hunts or "day of death" as my friends and I have called them in the past.

Re: Gauging interest in a wyoming long range antelope group hunt

We are at the point that the kill would not be most important. The camp, meeting and some shooting would be a great experience. Sure we would like to take 2 does each, but one each would do fine. And if we didn't take any it would not be the end of the world. Getting out and away from crowded areas does also appeal.

I like the way you think Jeff. For me, the comradere of the hunt is far more important than venison in my freezer (it's still rather full anyway).

If the dates are right, I can get rock tags, and leave the tags for the guys that maybe haven't shot 'lopes.

Have Foxpro will travel, coyotes are always in season.

Would love if you came out Carl... I know of a bear camp you are always invited to also...spring bear opens in 109 days

Re: Gauging interest in a wyoming long range antelope group hunt

Adding another dynamic to this we could also make it a long range shoot for those of us who dont draw but still want to go hang out and shoot etc... I have a little steel and maybe some others that drive out could bring some too then we could maybe learn from eachother or at least see what other people are doing. Any feed back on making this a long range shoot / meet and greet during antelope season for those of us who want to apply?

Re: Gauging interest in a wyoming long range antelope group hunt

Mike that sounds like a great idea. Would an area on BLM , for a "camp" and maybe a little wind protection be a problem? LOL, I know what the wind can sometimes be like with a tent and wood stove.:D

Mike,

I have 4 or 5- 12" Ar500 targets that I could bring. The mount to a steel fence post which would make setup pretty simple.
