180 Hammer Hunters 300 Win--which powder? RL26, Retumbo, H4350, H1000?

I got 3339 fps with 300 win. mag. and 180 Hammer and 80.0 grs. RL26 like I said. Very accurate. Just loaded some 180 with RL23 like you said. Also loaded some 300 RUM 180 with Retumbo, H1000 and RL26. I don't know yet about RL23 in it...

I think taper was a "light bull sporter". It is very accurate and I bagged a good bull elk and Miley, but when a friend offered $$$, I sold it. Newest is 28N with 171 HH!

I've been shooting 180 grn Accubonds out of a 300 RUM at 3390 fps with 100.1 grns Retumbo. Tried R26 and it was too temp sensitive. I'd start with Retumbo if you have it…

I ran 180's with 100.0 grs. Retumbo in my 300 RUM for years. Was very accurate. 3360 fps. 26 in. barrel. I dropped down to 99.0 grs. Later on. Have a 28 in. 5R 1 in 10 twist Bartlien barrel on it now. Still experimenting. 215 Bergers 3284 with N570. 180 Hammer with H1000 3443. Have some 180 HH loaded with Retumbo and RL26 to try this week. Same in 300 Win Mag.

Well, we'll see how they do with H4350 to start. Loaded .3 gr increments, starting at 70gr and ended up at 72.7 for right now in JAG brass @ 3.550 (seated right at the last driving band). Hopefully I'll be able to break away next week for some OCW testing of this batch.

I'm sorry. The 3339 was with 80.5 grs. RL26 and I only chono'd one round. I was out before I remembered to. I backed down to 80.0 grs.. Still shoots as accurate. Shooting tomorrow. I'll chrono 5 rounds and maybe other promising loads. Have some 181 to test in 300 RUM and 124 in 6.5 PRC again.

Ok. Yesterday. Started out at 68 degrees. Got up to 81 degrees. I had 300 win mag loads with 80.0 grs RL26. They shot great last week in Montana at buddies range. Was 55 up to 65 degrees that day. Yesterday I had some loads with 143 Hammers, RL26 for 7 mag. First 3 shots no pressure signs. Last 2 slight ejector mark. Firing pin dent a little cratered . Primer flattened more that first 3. Slightly stiff bolt. I thought what the heck. Sun was hot. I let cool 5 min. plus between shots. The same exact sinerio with 300 win mag 180 Hammer RL26. Exactly. It didn't register until today what I think is going on. It's not that hot when I hunt here but I'm dropping down from 80.0 grs RL26 to at least 79.5 or 79.0. 80.5 had no pressure that day in Montana. I'm a believer now! Not temp stable. Why didn't they make it temp stable ? Anyway, With 300 win mag 26 in. barrel I had Ave. 3303 fps. with 80.0 grs. RL26. GunWerks/ADG case. Fed 215m . 180 Hammer. SD5 - ES10. With the 7 mag ,143 Hammer 70.0 grs H1000 shot decent . Ave. 3142. My old standby of 72.0 grains Retumbo and 168 Berger Ave. 2976 in 24 in barrel shot great as usual. I tried Retumbo, RL26 and H1000 with 143 Hammer. H1000 shot best. No 300 RUM or 6.5 PRC tested. I'll shoot Sat. in Montana .Shot some rounds in 243 with 103 ELDX and Magnum powder for first time. Sucked. I'll go back to old standby's. Im going to have to order some 6mm Hammers 😉

I finally took the plunge and ordered some Hammer Hunters the other day. The load data thread has been helpful, and I chose the 180HH for my 300 Win Mag (Christensen Ridgeline 26" 1:10) due to the velocities that people were reporting. It looks like RL26 is the clear winner for velocities with that combination, with some guys pushing Wby/RUM speeds, but I've heard that RL26 can do some goofy things at temp. Being that it's 90+ degrees in MT right now, do I load with RL26 until I see pressure, back off a grain, and then assume that it will be safe at all temps?

Or do I stick with H1000, Retumbo, or even H4350?

Thanks for any insight you guys might have @ButterBean @GLTaylor @RockyMtnMT (<-assuming you're packing for your trip and not looking at LRH but tagged you anyways Steve)
H 1000
