168-grain TTSX BT 30-06 Pa White Tail Suggestions

I load my 30/06 168 TTSX with 55.0 grains of IMR-4350. I only get 2700 fps, but it is extremely accurate. I have shot 2 whitetails, my Son has shot 2 whitetails, and my Grandson has shot 1 whitetail with it.

My 168ttsx load is lapua brass 58.7 H4350 Fed 210m at around 2960fps out of a 23" Rock Creek 1-11.27 twist. This load has 2 Moose 2 Elk and 1/2 doz whitetails so far, all one shot kills.
I also like the 175lrx with 58gr H4350 @ 2880fps both of these loads shoot .5 @ 100 yards.

Sounds like a good load! 👍 Did ya get to bring any meat home from those Whitetails? 🤔 😂 memtb

My Brother and I shoot the 130g TTSX in our 30/06s, jump .050 from the lands, and very, very accurately in our 700s. The 130g ttsx is not a very difficult bullet to tune accurately in the '06 with R#22, R#19, IMR 4350.

It has been my opinion after shooting some deer with the TTSX, that speed is the killer as it is needed to make the TTSX work as advertised. My brother has killed a goodly number of hogs, some shot length wise with the '06/308 Win with the 130g TTSX.

I have a 6 Remington and shoot the 85g tsx with a hot load of R#19, and on Texas heart shots, the bullet is under the skin on a front shoulder of several deer! Barnes does penetrate well.

I would not hesitate to shoot Heavy Bull elk with a 168g TTSX in a 30/06.

What speeds are you getting with those 130"s ?

I have only recovered one 168 TTSX from the 6 elk taken with that bullet and that shot was from a steep above angle and glanced off the spine just in front of the near side ham and came to rest low in the opposite shoulder blade. Over 30" of penetration. All the others had clover leaf exit holes in the opposite side hide.

I will get back to you on the '06. IN the 308s, they run between 3000 and 3200 depending on the powder used, with incredible accuracy.

My brother's rifle is one of those inexpensive Rem 700 Long range that just shoots beyond belief, and mine is a 700 sporter in a laminate stock. Both of these rifles shoot the 130s very well, along with the 125g Sierra pro hunters.
