150gr badlands BD2 280ai

I shot my 280AI this morning with h-4831 and was getting 2,750 using 55.2 grains of powder. I was also shooting 168 bergers.

I have tried in the past shooting h-4350 and got it up to 2,900 FPS but didn't like the accuracy compared to H-4831.

All loads were using Peterson brass.

H4831 and a 280ai just flat out work even tho it's on the slower side there's no denying the accuracy

I agree that H4831 works very well in the 280ai. However, that 150 gr BD2 is a long bullet that has a profile that doesn't allow it to be seated very long in a SAAMI chamber. Actually I have never tried Sta Ball 6.5, but ordered a couple of lbs and will pick it up tomorrow. I'll try to find the time to load up one round ladder per Nralifer's suggestion and see where I get pressure. Then depending on results load some up for groups.

Hopefully the rain will hold off tomorrow. Loaded up a pressure ladder with the Sta Ball 6.5 and few HH143 with H4832SC and H4350 to hopefully find a good node. I'll post the findings.

Any one loaded N555? Out of curiosity I think it would be an exceptionally strong powder? Just curious.

A bit out of line, but using the 140 gr. Absolute Hammer and H-100V I'm getting 3,250 fps in my 24" 280 Ackley. Got pressure and heavy bolt at 3,360 and backed off. Very accurate to 200 yds and will see if it holds to 5-600 yds.

Mark…are all 3 of those bullets loaded just kissing the lands in this pic? I ask as COAL looks pretty short for 280AI. SAMMI chamber?

Thanks. Having mine throated targeting 0.190" FB to take advantage of using full case capacity while still keeping bearing surface above N/S junction.

Hard to get a sweet spot that works for everything but should work perfectly for 180g VLD, 175g Elite Hunters, 168g VLD, 162g ELDX, and will be very close with 160g Accubond (not sure if long enough to stay above N/S on this one). I will be jumping a fair amount with 140g Absolute Hammers but I hear they are pretty insensitive to seating depth. Anxious to see if it works as well as I'm hoping.
