What's your secret for getting off work to hunt?

A 4 wheeler is much lighter. And cheaper to replace. That, to me, looks like a great way to get off work, permanently

Not my truck.

Generally pretty safe by the crack bridges the fishing clubs put out but 50 mph winds do a number on a big open lake.

I've worked in rescue on Winnebago for 25 years. Have pulled way too many folks off and out of the lake even when there's "good ice". Many are not so lucky. I no longer drive a full sized vehicle on the ice for recreation.

Good luck to all the folks who took off to spear sturgeon this week. Stay safe. Hopefully I don't meet you while I'm on duty!

I remember the old timers at work would tell me, you should work now; you can hunt when you're old. That was by far the worst advice I have ever gotten, I'm old now and the hills that used to be easy are like tackling Everest now. I'm glad I took time off to hunt and didn't take that crazy talk seriously.
