6.5 Creedmoor & RL26

I did a little preliminary testing in my 6.5CM with RL26 and the Hornady 143 ELDX to see if it was worth pursuing.

May have to take a closer look at it.

My gun is a Rem 700 LH 24" bbl & Leupold VX5 4x-20x-52 duplex scope.

My only problem is I've only got about 9 lbs of RL26 left and I been feeding it to a couple 30 Nosler's.

Nice! I like the RL26 and 143 eldx combo as well. 47.5 is the sweet spot in my tikka. Easy on brass and gives me ~2800fps.

Now do that in a 30" barrel…3000 fps+

Save the R26 and just shoot h4350 with 41-42 grains with Lapua brass and a federal small match primer and you're golden

I broke 3000fps in a 26in i had and broke 2900 in 2 different 22in barrels. I gave up on it when it became so hard to find and went back to h4350.

I would, but so far my gun has not liked H4350 nearly as well for accuracy. Now, StaBall 6.5 gives me good accuracy and nearly as much velocity as RL26. For now, I'll be using StaBall 6.5. I've already shot one load out to 1,100 yards on a couple of occasions.

In my experience superformance and RL26 are very close. 24" tikka factory loaded to lands. I have some staball 6.5 I haven't tried yet but heard the same.

Second the Superform. It's cheap and shows at gunshops like weeds in a garden.

Using StaBall 6.5, I've gotten 2763 fps with the H143ELDX and good accuracy. Just not quite as fast as RL26.

In the past with other cartridges, Superformance has never gotten the accuracy I wanted, so I've not used it much.

I third SuperFormance being the same as RL26. I got good speeds and accuracy with RL26 in a 22" 6.5CM but saw velocity spikes at around 85° and above.
I was running the 147ELDM at 2750.

Speeds and accuracy were as good or better with SF but without the spikes.

I load about .1" longer than that in my tikka. So guessing probably 3-4g more without pressure. Where the extra speed comes from. If I loaded to saami lengths I wouldn't have near the velocity.
