POTENTIAL NEW WORLD RECORD ELK?

To me the most interesting part of this story is how did that bull grow those massive antlers? How old is he? Where did he live? What's he been eating all this time. That rack is incredible for a free ranging elk, hell it's great for a game park elk!

More power to the hunter, it is a legal way of hunting he had the means, ability to get this bull good for him, bull might have died of old age if he hadn't taken him. Hope whole story comes out.

As for Records they have become somewhat tainted as a guy can get his name in the record book as many times as he can afford it. This bull is no different that killing the monster bucks in old Mexico which are fed at some point. Obviously this guy wants to brag so they put this all over the web, not my thing but again I support all kinds of hunting and congrats to him.

86th elk he's taken supposedly..... super impressive.
How the !@#$ do people draw that many tags? Hell, I have been trying for 15 years to draw a tag 🤷‍♂️
Depends on where you're hunting. I took elk #71 last fall, all here in Colorado. We've been able to get two tags a year for many years. Mine have been a mix of cows and average CO bulls. Only three have been big bulls and none approaching B&C.

That takes zero skill and effort
Actually to do it regularly does take skill and effort. Lots of guys get lucky here in Colorado and shoot an elk… somewhere around 25% get an elk in rifle seasons, and I believe it's below 10% for archers. When I was a kid I heard it said 10% of hunters get 90% of the elk. I have seen that to be true. I have a number of friends that get an elk every year, they're all residents and all elk hunting devotees.

Haha, I spend more time hunting in 1 year 99% of the hunting populations does in a decade. As a Professional Guide, I did 13 weeks of elk guiding this year. Collectively, we killed 45 bulls in 2024. Add all of my personal hunting, without question that is over 100 days in the woods. See exhibit A, that is 700"s of bone harvested in 1 day & we do this regularly. If anything, I'm a realist & do not believe 99.99% of the nonsense I read on the internet. I know Casey's type, kills big animals & claims its all DIY Backcountry stuff. Which could not be further from the truth. The idea that he is wealthy & can buy any tag he wants tells me all I need to know. Put that in your pipe & smoke it keyboard cowboy 😉
Where's your operation located? Website?

For you envious, doubters, jealous or haters, have you looked at this guys hunting resume? He has taken over 80 plus bulls in his hunting career and several over 400 inches…with a bow. Do you even know someone personally who has taken even one over 400…I doubt most of us can say "yeah".

Anyway, the level of PASSION to pursue these numbers of animals, time and surely money is extraordinary. I am sure he has sacrificed time away from family and endured some rough times too through the years.

So, everything I have read is this was done DIY, no outfitters and the help of family and friends. So I applaud the guy and don't care if it was taken on the highest peak in North American or a hay field in the back 40…it did take him a few years to get it done. Well done sir.
I'm curious as to how many nice bulls he passed on in this area ? But I wouldn't be surprised to see, they are already on next years agenda.

The sons write up in early post.He had 12 bulls archery over 400'',and 86 archery. You don't get numbers like that just because you have $$, it does help. But you have to have some skill and a lot of go power.I have a friend with the super slam archery, ya $$ but tons of hard hunts and situations where you could die.Like out on ice -50 with sled dogs on floating ice pack for polar bear. Dan Evans here in MT,who Steve of Hammer and myself shot at 3d shoots with.Hes a elk killer and a unbelievable shooter, has 25 pope bulls over 350. Remmy Warren spends 300 days a year hunting, its what some are lucky to do.Iknow guys local, average dudes with dozen 350 bulls and 3-4 ,400+,more than one that Ive met right here in MT.

I guess your not one of the 10%

Not my story to tell.
It's hard to see the hate and just saddening to see so many people react negatively when it's just as easy to say, "Congrats on an incredible elk," and leave it at that.
I can see both sides. Personally if a hunter came forth with a special tag like that and said that he had pursued it for 2 months and ended up having to take it on private wintering grounds, over bait or whatever, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Nothing away from the hunt or the hunter. 100% of us would do the same thing. I think it's the unknown, details left out, or the potential shady perspective most people perceive of the story that is upsetting people.

Your trying to compare 2x 350's as being similar to 1x500" elk?
Keep dreaming lol
Shooting large numbers of of the same size animal doesnt make you anything special
Ill tell you a secret, most guides arent very good.
Most have a delusional sense of accomplishment
