Carnivore diet ...

It's not hardcore; I'm just trying it out. It's only been 2 months. My wife is not entirely happy; she is more concerned that I do not have a balanced diet, and she brought it up to my oncologist on my last follow-up. My oncologist did not restrict me to any diet or alcohol intake. He said everything in moderation. After 3+ years since my cholangiocarcinoma, all my liver panels, blood tests, and ultrasound are good. In addition, my primary care doctor on base has no issues with my diet. Below is my typical breakfast (this morning). Yesterday, I had 12 oz of steak but no eggs.

(1C cranberry, 1C blueberry, 1 apple, and 2 oranges)

I gave up carbohydrates, and my diet comprises 90% protein. I still eat fruit and vegetables and have been juicing and making my bone broths. I was not trying to lose weight, but thus far, I have lost 10 pounds and 2" on my waist without physical training/conditioning changes. It appears that I also have more energy throughout the day.

So far, so good. It is not for everybody ...just sharing. Cheers!

Congratulations ……8 hope that it continues to work for you!

My standard "go to " breakfast almost every morning is…..3 eggs over easy, bacon, a medium (or so) potato, all cooked in bacon grease. All chased -down with a large glass of Tang….I'm too cheap to buy OJ!

I could stand to lose 2" on the waist…..I just need to do more cardio!

I've lost count of friends and people I have known who were what I, and often they, considered to be health food freaks and have now left this world.
I never followed a strict, healthy (food freak) diet. My parents were in the meat (beef, pork, and chicken) market for four decades, so I grew up eating meat, and the carnivore diet is not a big adjustment for me. If I am going to die with this diet, at least I'm going to die happy eating my favorite food. 🤣
 
My wife has been on the carnivore diet for about 2 months. She has dropped a little weight and is happy with it so far.
I am gluten intolerant so my diet is already limited and don't really need to lose any weight which I think will happen if I do the carnivore thing.
I talked with @chav0_12 about this a few months ago and he's doing quite well on it which helped my wife decide to try it.
Processed foods are a thing of the past at our house!
 
I'm glad its working for you brother, and also that you brought this up, I have hypertriglyceridemia, always with high triglycerides, and I have them controlled with medication, but carbs are my enemy, and tortillas are my weakness, I can live without pasta and rice, and bread, but flour tortillas, I don't know.

I've discussed it with my wife, and I am leaning towards it, and include vegetables and fruits, can't leave those out.

Rice was my weakness for a long time. It was a heaping plate growing up, but I eventually managed to reduce it to a cup per meal. But now, no more rice and carbohydrates. If you make your own tortilla using unprocessed flour, you should be OK. As @birddog 68, processed foods can get us into health issues.

I've been limiting my burritos lately, and one tortilla here and there will be fine. Rice, pasta and bread are what I eat a lot of, and that will definitely get cut off. Making our own flour tortillas is not a bad idea, we already make our own corn tortillas, why not the flour ones? Thanks brother.

If you cut them out, you will see a significant difference. I do not remember the guy's name, but he is supposedly a food expert (if I ran into his video, I would share it here). He suggested eating the same food but using unprocessed ingredients; you can see the difference after a while.
 
I've been doing it for over a decade. It's how I keep low body fat without fighting myself.

Dr. Ken Berry has a lot of stuff on it. I do get bi annual labs done. I take creatine and over my body weight in grams of protein which is a little hard on the kidneys. Still safer than steroids.

Lastly, watch your cholesterol. Just cutting out carb surplus and sugar will start reducing fat. However, after a while your body will get used the eating that way. Just watch your cholesterol. Use egg whites instead of eggs, and try to balance poultry with fatting red meat. Game meat is a great option too.

That said if you're sedentary, I would consider switching off full carnivore to a ketovore diet every other week. That way you can get fiber with keeping net carbs way down.
