I was pulling some bullets that I loaded up for a 7mm Rem Mag that I decided to do something different with instead of shooting them. My normal load is with H1000 but I forgotten I had loaded up some rounds with H4831SC to experiment with. I had 10 of these left that I was pulling the bullets from. Without paying attention I dumped three of them, about 180 grains of H4831SC, into an open can of H1000 that was about half full. Did I just ruin the rest of the H1000 powder?

I write my load on my brass to avoid this kind of mistake when load developing.

You might be OK, but are you willing to take the chance?

Mix well and retest , you now have your own custom blend.

It will make virtually no difference to your loads, as above, mix it in well.
I have some H1000 with 1 case worth of Retumbo dumped into it, about 84g, I noticed just as I tipped the case up……………..

Cheers.

Its hard to waste powder these days but its not worth the risk of mixing 2 powders with different burn rates together and expecting them to shoot fine and not knowing the pressure spike, best to chalk it up for experience and use it for fertilizer or dump it in the trash. I sure wouldn't take the chance with a bolt starring me in the face when I pulled the trigger.Your life is worth more than a pound of powder

They are about 15 places apart on the burn chart, with H1000 being the slower of the two. Personally, I'm probably not dumping 4 lbs of powder without trying it. I wouldn't use it for load development, but I'd load maybe 10 rounds, and compare the MV on those rounds to my previous known loads. I bet they won't be more than 5-10 fps off. If so, I use them for practice or varmit loads. If they are more than 10-15 fps, or any signs of pressure, then I dump it.

Ps, my bad, was the half full container 1 lb or 8 lbs? I assumed it was 8 lbs. If 1 lb, that makes if a bit different. I'd still test it and use it for practice, yotes, etc.

180g into 7000g is what percentage?
It will NOT matter……
Burn rate charts mean ZERO.

Cheers.
