.284 Winchester, newer loads for 150 gr Eld x or M, 160 gr Nosler

Ever get a chance to try the staball with the 150gr? I've got a good load for my 284 and 180 eldm but I'm gonna tinker with some 150's for a lighter recoiling option when I don't plan to shoot as far. I've got a good amount of SB6.5 and h4350 on hand to try out
IME... I've found that H4350 is easy money every time with 150 grain bullets.
Yeah, It may not be as fast as RL17 but H4350 is easy to find a good load with 150's that gives good velocity with exceptional accuracy and consistency that'll hit the mark every time!

Roger that and it's a ubiquitous powder that can be used for many different cartridges with good results.

52.8 of H4350 and 145 grain Barnes LRX. Tikka &mm-08 re-chambered to 284 Win and bolt stop and mags switched to long action. ~1/2 MOA out to 500 yards

Great minds think alike! I already swapped my bolt stop and moved to the L mags in my 7-08 and would do the same in the .284. What's your barrel length and MV on the .284? The barrel I'm targeting for rechambering is an OEM 22" stainless super lite.

Depending on pressure…When I run some of my hotter hunting loads I'll have to trim a bit after 2-3 loadings on Win brass.
Milder loads go 5-6+...without annealing.

I don't anneal at all...should with the amount of shooting I do, but I don't take the time.
Maybe when I retire and have more time! 🤷‍♂️
For now...I prep, load and shoot.
In my 284's, I'll get a split neck here and there after 8+ firings.

Also, I've culled a few dies that work the brass too hard and use Redding FL Bushing die and a very old cardboard box RCBS FL die (no longer made like this) with a very smooth elongated expander ball pulled way up like Forster dies.

My barrel is the same as yours factory superlte. I think they are actually 22.6. MV is 2915
