Spotting scope Recommendations

thoughts? any other recommendations? thanks all

You will need more experience with scopes, and time to figure out your goals for your purchase.

Consider renting a scope for a bit to see what size/weight and zoom meets your needs.

And take your LRF to a local store like Cabela's or Sportsman's and try some of their scopes outdoors.

Once you get some experience, you'll have a better idea of what questions to ask.

That is what a tripod is for.
How is the glass? I have been none too impressed with Sig riflescopes.
I'm not really sure, I looked through them for about 10 minutes and I don't have an expensive spotting scope to compare it to. But like the guy in the video said with them you don't need to carry the extra gear.

No image-stabilized hand held bino will ever replace a tripod and good bino for glassing for game. I can't imagine how miserable it would be holding a set of binos to my face for 8+ hours a day. Or even for an hour.

We used a vortex razor 85mm side by side with a swaro atx 85mm. We were looking at a big bull approximately 1 1/2 miles away. Thought the vortex you could tell it was a big framed bull likely 6x6. Though the swaros you could see that it was actually a 7x7 with a kicker.

Decide if that detail difference is enough for you to justify the price. It is for me. Also no eye strain with the high quality glass.

For the budget listed, that Vortex Razor Compact 13-39x56 is probably the best you can get in my opinion. I've had and used them all guiding this year and the Swarovski ATC/SLC was the best in terms of clarity and brightness, but that Razor was **** close…and certainly, if I was only hunting for myself, would be the scope I would go with. You can find these Razor's for $1k if you look…and I would imagine with the holiday's coming up you will be able to find one for that price.

I think that's what I'm gonna end up with is either a razor or a find a decent used swaro if I can…

Used Swaro is going to run you roughly $1800-ish I'm guessing based on what I've seen on here. I don't think you go wrong with either one of your stated options! Good luck, and hope we helped more than we made the water muddier.

You would use something better for work than your own hunting? Why?
