Parent case is 6.5x47L
— can NOT use Lapua brass…too short of a neck if you do.
AI: reduced the taper & 40d shoulder
Designed for PRS, so look for 180-190g FB
Alpha brass, Cortina dies for now
No it is not the same as a 7 SAW or 7-08AI

Been waiting on this, but was hoping it would be more of a hunting round. Meaning a freebore set up for 160 to 175 class bullets essentially I think this is the same as my 7 mm Creedmoor.

From Derek Webster:
Exciting news! The first batch of test brass is approved and we are in production on the first run of 7SWC brass! I've tested the 190 Atip and 180 hybrid, both achieved high 2700+ speeds. The idea behind this cartridge is to have the highest ballistically performing comp cartridge available all while seating bullets appropriately in the case and feeding reliably. Tyler Jacobs and I have shot matches with both of these bullets shooting at 2680-2720.
To give some slight reference

6mm dasher with 109s needs to shoot 3630 to match my wind hold at 800 yards.

6.5 creed with 144s needs 3340 to match me.

Recoil is mild and shots are able to be seen through the glass.

Fully formed Alpha Brass will be available very soon!
Along with dies and reamers.

left to right is 6 dasher, 6gt, 6.5x47 lapua, 7 SWC, 22 creed.

Interesting choice for PRS, and not exactly an apples to apples comparison without using the heaviest atips across the board..

Even a 147 eldm at 2720 has just .2 mils more drift in a 10 mph cross wind at 800y over the 190 atip at the same speed.
A far bigger difference will be recoil, and ability to spot your impacts from positional shooting props.

Might be cool in a 224cal version. I see its merits for banging steel. 7x47AI has got to be running pretty hot to get a 180 into the high 2700fps range.

I don't need one but I support anything Rich or Derek or Tyler come up with.....just wish they would come up with a speed demon 🤣

Slow it down so you can watch trace not just see an impact. So now you can send a 190 LRHT at 2500 fps with the same wind hold as a 2700 FPS 153.5 LRHT or 3100 FPS 109 LRHT. With a great brake it could be a contender. I will probably buy it for NRL hunter. because I need a new cartridge to load for and new barrels lol

This is from Derek:

Same conditions…. 2MPH Wind uncertainty
20inx20in target.
7SWC 2700fps VS 6MM Dasher 2880

looks like it is basically a creedmoor case with the shoulder pushed back instead of blowing forward when fireforming, the creed case already has the taper blown out and would be a better choice to have a case a lot closer to finished dimensions. with a little neck turn and trimming you would have cases ready to go.

I tend to agree, but I think they were going for the COAL to fit in SA mag with the 180-190's class bullets. In my 7mm CM it is a limiting factor with those bullets. But I do just fine with the 168 and shorter bullets. I am doing a GRT profile now and will see what it gives me compared to my 7mm Creedmoor.

the COAL will be the same no matter which case you start with just that the creed case will be closer to finished product when sized and trimmed too same length.
a 7 Creedmoor has been on my wants list for a while with the 160 class being the focus. will be using a mid-length or savage short action which will get 2.990 oal.
