This may have been posted before I'm not sure I looked and couldn't find it. I'm looking for input on expected velocities in a 264 win Mag with a 26" bartlien 8 twist barrel using Hammer bullets 124 grain Hammer hunters and 134 grain stone hammers. Wondering also if it will be usefully faster than a 6.5 PRC? Thanks for your help. Tribb

We have not shot the 264wm much. I think there has only been one that we loaded and it was with the 129gr Absolute Hammer. We got about 3500 fps with this one. I think you are going to run pretty close to the same as the PRC. I'm hoping you will see about 3400 fps with the 124gr Hammer Hunter and about 3300 fps with the 134gr Power Hammer.

Do you think you could get close to 4k with the 97gr Absolute Hammer?

With a 32 inch barrel I shoot 123 gr absolute hammer @ 3300 fps over 70 gr of Retumbo. That's an accuracy load in my rifle, not a full load. With (soft - headed) Norma .264 Win Mag brass I start showing ejector marks at 3450 fps - experience tells me that at that pressure I'll only get a couple of firings before primer pockets start to loosen.

With Peterson 7mm Remington brass necked down to 6.5 mm, my experience is I could shoot another 100 fps with no pressure signs and good brass life.

With slow powder, a 26 inch barrel will shoot about 150 fps slower than a 32 inch barrel.
