These non conventional monos are just in a different class of lethality. Night and day difference between the 300gr TTSX and 260gr cutting edge Maximus.
If you want to shoot monos in a .264, that is gonna give you about the best all around performance for long range shooting. I live in Wyoming, and between high mountain elk and deer hunting and plains pronghorn hunting, the average range of our shots this year was just over 600 yards, so you kinda need to be able to reach out there ha ha.Hmm kinda thinking I might need to find a action to put a proof carbon 26" 7 twist 264 win mag
One day I want to hunt Wyoming. Most of the places in Colorado I've hunted hasn't forwarded me the opportunity for long range. Where we hunted last in rifle I could've stretched one out & we're headed back there this year.If you want to shoot monos in a .264, that is gonna give you about the best all around performance for long range shooting. A .264 with a 7 twist will be a wicked set up. With the sierra 150's, the Berger 156 coming out, Hornady 147, and so on there are a lot of fantastic options, and the Hammer 137 would make a good hunting round. Barrel life should still be relatively decent, I would say over 1000 rounds pretty easy if taken care of.I started looking for a good donor action to build. I was going to buy a Christensen ridgeline 280 a.i. but might just build a bada$$ 264win. Choices choices either one will be fun.
What about the 160 woodleigh weldcores?A .264 with a 7 twist will be a wicked set up.
