I have felt this way for a couple years now myself.
I am toying with selling all but what I absolutely need to provide meat.

I am ashamed of the amount of $ I have spent on gear over the years.
I currently have over $7 K in gear sitting in the cab of my truck getting ready to head back up to archery hunt elk.

My problem is getting the motivation the list, sell and ship everything.

Might go the auction route.

We always want but rarely use. I've been down sizing myself for similar reasons trying to simplify to make everything easier and cheaper

Yep it's a real post and I'm actually getting rid of all my guns. It's a hard thing for me to do so I think it must be necessary. I have been feeling that every time I read the story of the rich man who wants eternal life that it's talking to me. He's been doing all the commandments thinking that it would earn him something from God. And instead of a pat on the back Jesus tells him "one thing you lack sell everything and give it the poor then come follow me." I've read that a thousand times and I can't shake the thought that if God asked me to give up guns I'd go away sad like the rich man. I've been fighting this feeling for years and making all the rationalizations I can for why I should keep my guns. I am finally at the point where I want to get closer to God more than I want to keep my guns. I feel like God is saying to me "if you're really serious you know what you need to do."
My greatest respect to you to set aside the temporary pleasures of this world to seek a greater treasure in heaven, the Lord God will bless you in your commitment to him.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Whoever this god or Jesus feller is, don't listen to him 😆
If you only knew Him. There will come a day when every man that listened to Him will be so glad they did. And every man who didn't listen will regret that decision for all eternity. Eternity is way too long to be wrong.
Reading this post is very inspiring. To the OP
Lord bless you sir. Mt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

Yes, we all have eternal spirits. Where you spend eternity is what matters... and it matters a lot!

Amen brother I understand where you are coming from . Glad you posted this. I too have been thinking the same thing. Probably just give mine to family members. Tribb

Amazing, I was looking at the 280AI, then heard your story. First thing that came to mind is, "I don't need it." I have had the same going through my mind for a while as well and it is the Holy Spirit speaking.

I got into shooting and reloading after my son passed to keep from going crazy. I did not do anything at all for a while. My son and I used to fish and I cannot even wet a line anymore nor do I think I ever will. My wife said I needed something fun to do because she saw me getting into depression. As I have done with everything in life, I went a bit bonkers with it.

I have gotten so much closer to God these last few years, but I know I have far to go. I don't have any firearms I have an attachment to, aside my son's that I got when he passed. I could easily sell most of it and not shed a tear. I went to pare things down a bit and sold quite a few off, then turned around and bought a few others. My plan is to start giving them away to the kids we are close to when they are old enough to hunt.

You sir, however, are doing it now. God should be #1 in our lives over everything and our family being second and you chose to live it. God bless and I know He will bless you.

All of us place something as lord over our lives, we choose a master and enslave ourselves to it. Work, sports, cars, women, hoarding up stuff that brings us temporary happiness while also bringing us emptiness and longing for the next "fix". We set our faith in the rifle and the perfect load and when it lets us down we say we did something wrong. Things of this world will always let us down, we can't even rely on faith in ourselves! Jesus Christ died for you and he is the only one you should call Lord! The only one you should enslave yourself to and He richly rewards His servants and God the Father greatly blesses those that follow Him! Fulfillment, forgiveness, and wisdom can only come from Him and He blesses with so much more than we can imagine.

I am the poor that Jesus was talking about. No need to sell them, just give them all to me......
